Radio Progreso (Cuba) was off last night?

Hi

Was tuning the car radio on the way home from work last night after midnight....seemed like all the Radio Progreso AM outlets were off the air. I even heard WLS for the first time in ages (not that I have tried for it much, mind you). Not sure about 640 because I have a semi-local here.

I wonder if RP is shutting down.

Sorry I did not post this earlier.....as I live in FL, there are quite a few freqs. for RP on AM: 630, 640, 650, 660, 690 (heard sports talk---WIST?), 730 (which might have had "Sandy" damage as I have not heard it for a while), 880, 890, and 900...and a few others.

I looked over the R. Progreso web page, and I have a rudimentary knowledge of Spanish.

I don't see anything that refers to an outage at Radio Progreso. The only news item about Hurricane Sandy seems to refer to the rains making up for a past drought (or something like that), or guaranteeing enough water to make up for the November-April dry period.

Another story on R. Rebelde's site says power is back up for 95 percent of the Santiago De Cuba area.

R. Progreso has always struck me as R. Rebelde's "poor relation". Perhaps David or someone else with knowledge can shed some light/background on how accurate my observation is.
