Radio & Records gets shuttered by Nielson

Another print media casualty and truly the end of an era.

I remember the days when their back pages (charts) made or broke the hits and how proud I was as MD of my station when we received RnR reporting status.

The website still shows an ad for the convention but I'm sure it's a goner too.
And now off to "All Access" to see what they have to say...

Good luck and god bless to all the staff at RnR.

Have you ever SEEN the R&R newsstand price? Or the SUBSCRIPTION cost? They were just ridiculous in an age when you can get that information anywhere for free and second, nobody these days has that kind of money to blow on a trade paper subscription.

R&R was a good read sometimes, other times it blew. But it wasn't worth a king's ransom to read any of it. The best part to me was the charts....

The internet has pretty much made R&R obsolete anyway.......

Bongwater makes a good point. I always thought it would be cool to have a home subscription but could never justify the $$. In their defense, they dids give outta work DJs free classifieds.

Irregardless - R&R was the #1 trade for 36 years and doing a syndicated show and having R&R reporters was a BIG deal. Now what?

sigh ...
