Radio Reunion

Hey A Brooks from an old KSCS/Love Ford co-worker back in the day! Hope alls well!!

Good lord auntie...I don't think I ever knew you or worked with you, but you are definitely in my prayers. I can tell you have a lot of moxie and backbone, and you'll get through this, so be of stout heart.

Don't worry about photos. A lot of people will bring their cameras and they'll take home a lot of "evidence" of this affair to share with those who can't be there.

Oh, we'll do beter than that.

We will have a pro photographer that will be there. He has a site where you can actually pick and pay for photos you want-and download them instantly.

We will have a videographer who will put together a video of the event.

There will be another group putting together an after the fact powerpoint presentation we will offer up.

-AND- I was contacted yesterday by a group that wants to do live video streaming of the event. *It is still iffy if they will make it, but we will notify you where you need to go to see it PDQ when we know.

Thanks KXYBill. So how have you been?

Good ol Love Ford.....are they still even around? Boy, those were some fun times. From the Dallas Cowboys tossing me around like a football in the showroom,
Mickey Gilley poppin in and doing mini concerts...to having Elsie the Cow singing over and over. But I have to admit, a station in Chicago that I worked at
topped them. They had me slide into a huge vat of watery- sticky JELLO for a charity event....and then hosed me off with a blast from a real fire hose. Those things hurt.
It wasn't bad enough having all this slimey stuff on ya, but then to get knocked on your butt with this. Well, the audience laughed and gave more money.
Hey, this gives me an idea. Has it ever been tried to upset the winds of a tornado...with the use of say 50 high pressure fire hoses all at one time aimed at it. I wonder?
If only we could market and sell this. People could actually all run out, aim at it together, and just maybe upset the spin enough to save their homes. Sure would beat flying
through the sky in your bath tub --hanging on for dear life, while ducking tree branches and airplanes. What do ya think?

Hey Filio,

I appreciate all prayers.

The tornado has taken away many things.
The worst was losing my beloved 10 year old Norwegian Elkhound ,Crystal, -and my very special 10 year old cat, Dana. No fun watching them die.
There are some things that can never be replaced, but the fond memories will live on..........at least until I get Alzheimer's.

So please send me some photos of the party, as my boxes of radio friends pictures are all lumped together in one large, muddy-mass of smeary faces.
Of course a few may have just been drunk.

Google has a great program called Picasa...where you can upload them to be seen.

Thanks again for your kind wishes.

I lived in Houston in 1970. Anybody remember the line=ups on KILT, KNUZ, and KULF? What ever happened to that right -wing blowtorch, Arch Yancey? He was like Bill O'Reilly before there was a Bill O'Reilly-------or maybe Glenn Beck.

Arch has retired from radio but was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Saw him Saturday at Mike's Scott's wake. he's in good shape for the ole coot that he is! And I'll beat him out of a buck the next time we play golf too!

Arch was playing country music on KIKK at the time. He did not have a talk show. It would be incorrect to make the comparison. As far as his political views, I feel it is inappropriate to mention them at all in this thread. Many of on the right and left will be at the reunion this afternoon. We are not meeting to have a political discussion, but rather to get together and have a good time. Many of us haven't seen each other in years. Many of us have been in the market a long time without meeting each other at all. Case in point, I am looking forward to meeting Jim Bell. He has been in the Houston market before I entered radio in 1972. I knew of him, just never met him.

I am a country fan. When 1070 went full time as a country station, I hoped for a more professional version than KiKK.
