radio reunion

Rochester, NY had a really great radio reunion last weekend with over 150 making the scene. One of my co-workers here at the station attended and loved it.

Could we pull off one here? Just a thought.
 
Naw...there's no one that I've worked with that I really want to see again...well maybe a couple, I'll just go visit them personally.
 
I worked in Rochester in the 70's and went to this event. It really was a great deal of fun. I can't believe that a similar event couldn't been done in Pittsburgh, considering the depth and breadth of talent that has come and gone through the market over the years. If anyone is interested, you should talk to some of the people who set the Rochester reunion up, particularly Larry White and Pat Grover. If you're interested, I can forward you their emails privately.

I worked in Rochester 1972-73, 1975-78, 1985-6 and have owned a station in the market since. The Reunion was a class event and was a great deal of fun.

A week later I went to the Binghamton, NY Radio Reunion which - believe it or not - was even bigger than Rochester's. More than 200 attended. There was a terrific historic display of WENE artifacts including the front panel of the legendary Merv Griffin station's Gates 5kw transmitter (with status lights illuminated), fluorescent WENE ad clock, music surveys, memos, etc. (Big kudos to Clear Channel's Jon Scaptura.) Every attendee got a souvenir photo CD. The event was FREE. Awards were given to operators who gave excellent public service during the recent floods.

Present for the event were native Dick Biondi (WKBW, WLS, WCFL) and Gary Lewis of "This Diamong Ring" fame.

I wouldn't knock these events. When thoughtfully planned they're great.
 
Cleveland recently did a reunion for 1220 WGAR at the Cleveland Radio Museum. It was outstanding, and was one of the last events held with Chuck Collier, who had a heartattack a few weeks later and passed away!
 
Well, now THERE'S a cheerful thought.... :D

If were a superstitious person I'd say, "I'm never going to another radio reunion....ever!!" (Age 61)
