Radio Shack Catalogs

Last time I was at Radio Snack, I asked for a catalogue, and they told me they don't give them out anymore. Too bad, cause we already used up the old Sears catalogue.... :D

I worked part time for Radio Shack for almost 10 years, and during that time I saw a compnay really go downhill. It seemed to me that they kept trying to be more and more like Sears. They cut Managers and sales peoples commission, cut the parts wall, forced non moving inventory into stores, which cut the managers "open to buy" and in general did all they could to shoot themselves in the foot.

Somehow lost my 1973 copy. It was about the last year that still "recognized" the joint
Allied-Radio Shack years. The selection of brands outside of their own house brand was what made them great.

I still remember one trip to Allied Radio in downtown Chicago about 1969, a huge store left from the Allied radio part, and it was
something to behold.

Sure wish such a place existed now. I really need a 200 VA 240/120v drop-down transformer here at work,
we don't have one in stock, and the plate hoist elevator is dead due to to a shorted secondary on the control voltage
transformer. Well, at least it's not 2:30 AM on a Sat night/ Sun morn, and they CAN carry the plates to the top of the press
one at a time up the stairs...

I love technology...this laptop's now having trouble finding its RAM most of time when I restart it...

I guess it beats living in caves, right?

Isn't an old building still standing with a Heathkit sign outside ... maybe on Ross downtown?

Waiting in line at a Radio Shack is a lot of fun. :)

The building's still there. But it's a church now.

I was working at "The Shack" when they started the REQUIREMENT that you answer the phone. "Radio Shack (Location) you've got questions we've got answers." Of course being the rebel I am, (comes from broadcast0 I turned it around to "you've got answers we've got questions." Of course the Manager and the D.M. were not impressed, and told me to stop, which of course made me continue!

Heathkit Building was there on Ross. Was turned into a car garage. Was razed and is now part of the new arts district.

Is Allied electronics still in Fort Worth? Had to get parts from them for a high school electronics project. Think they were on Burnett st.
