Radio Signals Today in Fringe Areas

Grew up in Vidalia and recently visited family for Turkey Day. With the exception of 96.5 and 102.1, I literally cannot get any Savannah stations. Use to, 93.1, 94.1, and 95.5 would come in clear most of the time. 97.3 never came in thanks to a local station that basically blocks it. 93.1 receives interference from a Dublin translator station on 93.1 now and I'm not sure what happened to 95.5 or 94.1. Neither station has any local translators around from the west, south or north and I don't see where the stations have adjusted power or anything. Seems crazy but I almost wonder if its the increase in pine tree farms. For 96.5 and 102.1, while I do get them, they are not as clear as they use to be. Perhaps car radio sucks these days but I'm leaning towards something else as to why this is an issue.

Just a guess on my part, but perhaps stations are using lower beam angles on their antenna configurations to limit their signals into the fringe areas. Car radios are, in fact, not as good as they used to be - less sensitive to weaker signals - but a good home receiver ought to be able to pull in a signal with a good antenna. Your theory about something blocking the signal path is a real possibility as well - not pine trees but taller man-made structures made of metal.

I know this is a few years old but I noticed the same. I used to visit my grandmother in Rockledge near Vidalia. I could get 94.1 96.5 and 102.1 from Savannah and even where I lived in Dublin I could get them. I used rabbit ears at home on my stereo. But a boombox at my grandmothers could also get Macon stations better back then also. I live down the road from my grandmothers old house and cannot get stations like I used to I also think it's thee pine trees.
