Zetta from RCS for both live assist and full automation mode.
In terms of “ease of use”, WideOrbit wins by a country mile IMO. Maybe it’s my old affinity for Scott Studios. Any mildly trained monkey can run WideOrbit’s basic features with a 3-5 minute crash course.
In terms of “most bang for your buck”, I like Rivendell and it’s price point (zero, assuming you can do your own tech support). It is good enough for Salem to have developed it and use it across the country (last time I checked).
Zetta or the older version, Nexgen...for free, I love Zara..haven't dealt with the paid version but I understand it's great as well

What's the budget? Format? I agree with David RCS is probably the Rolls-Royce of the industry.

That is an excellent point. RCS has enormous capability for merging with traffic (commercials, not cars) and service elements for smooth live-with-auto-assit up to full automated running. It integrates well with major traffic software like Marketron, and has terrific offsite accessibility and control.
Some of the software not used at major commercial stations will do a good deal of what a non-commercial streamer or very simple commercial station may require.
As far as music scheduling which can be integrated with the operations software, there are really only two that will do what is required for good scheduling: RCS Selector and MusicMaster. Period.
David, After working with Rcs For over 15 years hands down is the #1 system. Wideorbit radio automation formerly google radio automation, scotts studios and AudioVAULT will be my second choice. RCS and Selector is just a match made in heaven.
I thought Scott was absorbed into Wide Orbit.
And RCS and MusicMaster work just as well. I've much favored MusicMaster ever since Rusty Walker and his crew introduced me to it in the late 80's and have been using it ever since. I even replaced Selector with MusicMaster at a variety of stations in Latin America. But the newer RCS system automation is much better than Wide Orbit in my opinion.
I stand corrected, yes your right. Jim Cook and the guys at RCS push Selector. Love both selector and music master. Last rcs i purchased for a small fm in The Antelope Valley 2012 price a lil over 10k for a on-air/studio and selector with the monthly licensing fee.
Music master would be my best option and the pricing has improved but for on air automation for the price Simian would be a great option it can voice track and is pretty simple to set up and now if you have the $$ Wide orbit all day!
Wide Orbit is not the same as MusicMater. MusicMaster is a music scheduling app, while the Wide Orbit system runs the on-air audio, live, manually assisted or automated. It takes a "translation" of MusicMaster or any other music scheduling software and integrates it with the commercial log and runs the recorded portions of programming, integrates outsourced audio and live in-studio content.

Yes i am aware i use both but the conversation was about both the Scheduler and the Automation system of software of choice.
There are two types of "scheduler" apps: music scheduling and commercial scheduling. Both run independently of the automation with which they generally have contact only to send the next day's logs to the "automation" system that integrates them and runs the on-air operation.
"Automation" is a misnomer. What really systems like Zeta do is run the programming, whether it be live and manual, semi-automated or fully automated. It replaces cart machines, CD players and other recorded audio sources with a system that contains all but the live audio (if any) and runs it on a schedule, usually imposed by the music software which integrates with the commercial log.
