Radio St. Charles

I caught one of them in the entrance to St. Charles from Lafourche recently... reception with a car stereo was basically like trying to catch a distant station at times with fading etc.

There was a sign on US Highway 90 entrance to the parish at Des Allemands that says to tune to 1370 when some lights are flashing.

Basically looping with parish info on events that happen in the parish, where to tune in for an emergency, and the TIS' callsign for the station and links.

IF you time it together, it should be received pretty good with a noise in the background in some places which I did hear.. But at the time I was in search of other stations I hadn't heard about in a while...

Technically it's a TIS station and not a LPAM.. meaning they have to accept any interference from the offending station.. Cheap radios will have a problem with this more than the newer digitally tuned radios.

I haven't tried in the eastern part of the parish, but I think it will kill the signal unless you live near a transmitter for the cheap radios but most modern made car radios shouldn't have problems trying to filter it out from WWWL (who transmitter is actually near the orleans/jefferson parish border near Gretna) so some of the bleedover from WWWL will be killed due to the distance IMO

The purpose was mainly for people fleeing in cars and since most radios are digital tune in cars these days (meaning better selectivity or listening to what I want only).. most shouldn't have problems IMO
