This is the most important day in the history of hip hop. Today is also the day The Notorious B.I.G. released his Ready to Die album (Tuesday Sept 13, 1994). Around the time 2Pac died Power 106 & 92.3 The Beat was killing California Love, 2 of Americas Most Wanted, How Do You Want It, Hit Em Up, Hail Mary and To Live & Die in L.A. R.I.P. Tupac Amaru Shakur. Sunrise June 15, 1971, Sunset September 13, 1996. He was only 25 years old too and very talented. He told storys in his song that anybody can relate to such as story about the inner city issue's, welfare, crime, partying and violence. His music still get's airplay on Power 106, KKBT 92.3 The Beat (100.3 The Beat) before they switched Urban AC, KGGI in Riverside every station on the westcoast. Northern California leaders include Urban leaning KMEL & KYLD. Affeni Shakur was blessed with the gifted child.ShawtyBlack_ATL said:V103 here in Atlanta has been killing Tupac's songs especially during the midday and 5pm mixshows.
KDM 7000 As far as Aaliyah goes KJLH was spinning Back& Forth(1994), One In A Million(1996), If Your Girl Only Knew(1996), Rock The Boat(2001), I Miss You(2002) KDAY played all her hits I mentioned includingAre You That Somebody(1998), We Need a Resulution(2001), More Than a Woman(2002). Power 106 surprisingly showed respect to Aaliyah during Boy Boy in the Morning and during their mixes through out the day. Power 106 was quick to show love to Nate Dogg by playing Shade Sheist Where I Wanna Be, Fabolous Can't Deny It, Snoop Dogg's Ain't No Fun, Shade Sheist Wake Up, Warren G Regulate, Nate Dogg's Never Leave Me Alone. All of the greats gone but not forgotten.KDM 7000 said:Did Aaliyah get any attention?
Those names are I.E. Lil Wayne, Madonna and Eminem are going by remembered just fine. What about southern female rappers Khia, Trina or Jacki-O. Would KPWR Power 106 be playing Khia's My Neck, My Back, Trina's Da Baddest B*tch(2000), Pull Over(2000), B R Right(2002), No Panties(2002), Told Y'all(2002) and Jacki-O's Nookie Real Good(2003) if Khia, Jacki-O and Trina kicked the bucket?KDM 7000 said:Lil Wayne is doing incredibly well right now, according to ratings and billboard and general public response. So, I wonder; If anything were to ever happen to him, would he get the same attention as Tupac and Biggie did? Would he be remembered at the same level due to his lyrical ability? And who do you think would get the most recognition between Jay-Z and Lil Wayne?
Even deeper, what if something happened to Eminem? When you really think about it, a lot of urbans don't include many of Eminem's tracks. But then again, a lot of stations that didn't play Michael Jackson were "forced" to do so based purely on the fact that he was so meaningful to people - despite the fact that his records weren't even current! I wonder if Eminem has that effect to generate that much after-response if he passed away?
AND what about Madonna?.. .... ..
