Like when you travel with your Radio

You have like Presets saved, But in other cities that doesn't have your Station

I always have 98.1 in my #1 Preset, 92.5 #2, 98.5 #3

I can listen to KUBA's Tranlator while in Rocklin, well not that Good

When I go back to Vallejo, I got 98.1 the Breeze, I can still pick up 92.5, 96.1 or 96.9

My home city is Tyler, Texas. The presets are:
#1 95.7 KDOK (classic hits) #2 96.1 KKTX-FM (classic rock) #3 97.5 KTBB-FM (N/T) #4 99.9 KMOO-FM (classic country) #5 104.1 KKUS (classic country) #6 106.5 KOOI (Jack-FM)

The second set is set for Lufkin-Nacogdoches:
#1 97.1 KTHT (classic country) #2 100.1 KYBI (country) #3 103.3 KJCS (classic country) #4 105.1 KYKS (country) #5 107.7 KTBQ (classic rock) #6 106.9 KHPT (classic rock)

Third set is Bryan-College Station:
#1 96.1 KAGG (country) #2 97.7 KWBC (classic country) #3 98.3 KORA (country) #4 99.5 KNFX (classic rock) #5 104.7 KKYS (Hot AC) #6 107.3 KAPN (classic hits)
 
The garaged 1992 Topaz (108, 000 miles; $450 at an auction ; oil like pancake syrup, and with AM-FM casette, only had three buttons I used for FM and maybe two for AM. That's out of ten total pre-set choices. Shows how much music or distraction I need in a car.
The 'newer' car in use for the past 5 years, a little 2008 Chrysler, is 87,000 miles and has AM-FM, a CD player and a nub antenna for Sirius. I still have no presets on either FM or AM because I never cared to figure out how to do pre-sets. And I'll never spemd a dime for satellite subscription.
I mention these phobias only because
A - They're CARS, for crying out loud. Designed to get me from one place to another.
2 - Apparently there are fewer stations that appeal to me than 2023 radio offers.
(Both cars are good only for DXing ; the Chysler AM is terrific for that.)

If I understand his intent correctly, then yes.

@MarioMania what's to understand? We're all fans of radio (or television), work in the industry, have a fascination with DX (not the wrestling stable), or enjoy talking with other professionals or enthusiasts like yourself who have a similar career, passion, and/or hobby.

Simply put, to a certain degree, we're all just a bunch of nerds here who enjoy talking shop with one another. Some take it all a little too seriously on the forums, but I get that frustration too. How many times can you repeat the same truths and facts of the mediums to those who aren't a part of them and may not have a firm understanding of what it takes to be successful, then when explained the how and why of it all, still not get it and want to argue with those who do? In this scenario, my suggestion would be for us to just move on and not engage those that just want to debate and argue, but some people just like to play the part of a jackass. That's why I personally like and appreciate David Eduardo. He is the king of the nerds (hope that's not taken offensively, David), with a wealth of knowledge that I could only dream to attain in my career, but he's not "big headed" about it, and responds to everyone here with the utmost class and decorum, regardless of how argumentative the other party may become towards him.

I'm not sure how well your topic will be received by the collective, but I went ahead and responded because, as I said before, why not? I was glad to respond to the thread to get the ball rolling and we'll see what happens. Keep posting, Mario. Not everything you post may not be a grand slam, but for goodness sake, don't stop stepping up to the plate.
 
My 2019 Hyundai Elantra has 40 presets that can be set for either AM or FM, and no satellite radio. I have the main stations I listen to at least occasionally on the first 5:

1: 89.3 WAY-FM translator (CCM), Jackson, TN
2: 90.7 WZKV (K-LOVE), Dyersburg, TN
3: 99.7 WMC-FM (Hot AC), Memphis - Soon to be changing to Country and will be dropped
4: 100.1 WASL (Jack FM), Dyersburg, TN
5: 103.1 WMXX (Kool Mix 103, Classic 70's and 80's Hits), Jackson, TN

The remaining presets change at different times with 7-10 being other stations I listen to in West TN, and the rest being stations I listen to on various trips, mainly to Memphis or Nashville. There are actually some presets that I've never put anything on.

Until I got to using Bluetooth either through adapters or built in to the system and later USB I used 87.7 for FM adapters with MP3 players.

1- 98.3 - FreeForm Portland (KFFP-LP when in PDX, also a easy flick up to 99.1 for KPRP-LP)
2- 96.7 Oldies/Ham Radio info (KICN-LP, alternate signal of KQRZ-LP)
3- 107.1 Xray.fm, FreeForm public radio. (K296FT, relays KXRY-FM)
4- 87.9 (I like to listen for people’s fm transmitters when stuck in traffic)
5- 101.5 cavern.fm eclectic mix (KYQT-LP)
6- 100.7 Oldies/Ham Radio info (KQRZ-LP)

FM2
1 - 101.9 AAA (KINK-FM)
2 - 100.3 CHR (KKRZ)
3- 89.1 Jazz (KMHD)
4- 95.5 CHR (KBFF)
5- 94.7 alternative (KNRK)
6- 97.1 Adult Hits, jack fm knockoff. (KYCH)

AM - don’t use in car, it never worked and I’m not pulling my dash apart.
 
I think Mario wants to know if we have presets on our vehicles' radios that are for stations listened to only when the driver is in another city/market. For instance, for several years when I lived in Connecticut, I used to travel to Boston and back nearly every weekend. My car at that time had only 12 presets, so I used Tier 1 for Hartford/New Haven, Tier 2 for Boston.

Am I right, mario?
 
FM1 is always Yakima presets, FM2 is Tri-Cities presets. Because 95.7 KKSR is noisy but audible in Yakima, I also include that station. Considering the use of FM3 for E-skip beacon channels, those with little or no signal in town, but I often just scan rapidly through channels.

Nope

For example, I have my presets for the Bay Area/Sacramento on my Portable Radios, not thinking cars

If I go to Reno or someother placees that doesn't have the station on my preset, I have to manual tune it

I've never used presets on any portable radio, at home or across the continent, so I guess I can't contribute anything here. I'm guessing that most of those who've offered lists are using their car radio presets.

I have a portable HD unit that has 20 different presets, but it never leaves the house. The smart phone and associated apps have replaced the need for a portable unit to accompany me on any long distance trips and packing a portable takes up unnecessary room. Looks like we both struck out in accommodating Mario.

I find the lists quite interesting because they mention some smaller and non-com stations I'd never heard of - who knew there was an LPFM run by a ham radio club in Portland?

I have presets on my car radio but don't use them especially often, other than on short journeys when I can't be bothered to ask Alexa to play something, and just hit button 1 for BBC Radio 1, for some pop music and inoffensive chat.

I looked at the station's schedule. The ham radio information show airs twice a week. The rest of the broadcast day is filled with oldies and "easy listening" music, along with specialty shows focused on music from the '50s, '60s and '70s, which, given amateur radio's demographics, is exactly the sort of music I'd expect to hear!

Sounds about right. I guess part of the "purpose" of the station is to give the club members something to play around with, in terms of engineering a small broadcast station. Another string to the bow.

I have a license, but rarely go on the air. I find a lot of the chatter on local bands a bit uninspiring and haven't really got the interest to shout over the hordes for "DX" nowadays.

Correct. The ham info is also dispersed between songs during regular programming.
