Radio stunt of the day - and nobody's noticed

Radio-Info reports:
Bristol Palin gets a morning-show job offer from "Mix 96.9" in Phoenix

The "Dancing with the Stars" contestant has recently bought a five-bedroom house in the Phoenix area and that leads Clear Channel's KMXP to offer her "a salaried on-air position as a co-host on our morning show." The station says it's a "respected brand in the market, not a high-school hijinx-minded radio station" and that she'd only need to work a few hours per weekday, with opportunities for additional talent fees. It even says Mix can be flexible, if Palin needs to work from other cities, and it promises that "we are not looking for a political commentator."

This is obviously a stunt. Not even a PD can be that stupid. The station claims they sent her a letter with the "offer." Out of the blue. Anything for attention. She's never done radio. She can't dance either but that didn't stop her. She's too dumb to avoid getting knocked up but being dumb runs in the family. She shouldn't even take it for granted she can get admitted to ASU. The offer says she doesn't even have to show up much. It would serve them right if she took their cash.

Par for the course. The name Palin and "stunt" go together. Way to go, KMXP !!
b.t.w. ASU should examine her admission very closely... ::)

She won't last long at ASU. Just wait until she gets a load of the commute from that sparkling little metropolis of Maricopa to downtown Tempe at 8AM ("Bristol Sits In Traffic").

Come to think of it maybe there are TV possibilities in her future:

1. "Bristol's First Dust Storm".
2. "Bristol at the Market - Fry's or Bashas?".
3. "Bristol Visits the Local Feed Lot - What's That On My Shoe?".
4. "Bristol and the Train Whistle - Every 20 Minutes".
5. "Bristol Enjoys Summer in Hellhole, AZ".
6. "Bristol Visits The Big City (Casa Grande)".
7. "Bristol and Sarah Hang at the Dew Drop Inn".

bristol looks like my daughter. i root for her whenever i can

I thought it was funny that the media intimated that she would be enrolling at Cronkite. Well, she isn't even a junior and she has not even announced she intends to attend ASU.

The Cheap Channel stunt does not surprise me. It's like Jessica Hahn all over again, except I doubt anyone wants to see Bristol naked in Playboy. ;D

I have even more...(I loved yours!)

8. "Bristol Becomes a Ram" (mascot of Maricopa High School)
9. "Bristol Runs Her Fireplace On A No-Burn Day" – oh wait, that's just Maricopa County
10. "Bristol Drag Races on State Route 347 And Crashes Into Commuters"
11. "Bristol Goes to Florence and Hangs with Sheriff Babeu"
12. "Bristol Goes to the Dispensary"

What nobody noticed is the fact that I offered her an internship for credit the day the news broke.

At least someone was listening :)

I'd have never followed through.

Now, her Mom...

What makes it obvious this is a stunt: Radio stations or any employer may approach someone, who has not contacted them, and try to recruit them for a position. This is always done directly. Nobody tries to hire someone by making a public offer. Bristol should take them up on it. The wording pretty much lets her show up if and when she wants - or not. Besides she can't be any worse than Jenna Bush on the Today Show.

I can not pick Bristol in a journalism school named for Walter Cronkite. Maybe if somebody opens up the Couric School of Perkiness she could apply there.

It finally hit AZCentral a few minutes ago.

You think the Arizona Socialist Republic editors and reporters (and I use those job
descriptions loosely) got it from here (the Phoenix R-I board)?

Especially since we say such wonderful things about them all the time. ;D

Not since Gannett bought it.

Gannett newspapers are devoid of news. They have really nice graphics, though.

"Devoid of news" pretty much describes The Arizona Repulsive. ;D

Keep in mind -- this is Cheap Channel we're talking about. The company that thinks anyone on the streets can work in radio. I am so glad I don't work at that nickel-and-dime outfit anymore.
