The Original Larry will return to his regularly scheduled bombast tomorrow night as he is up at my sister's in Victoria helping remodel her bathroom. Substituting for him tonight is SpaceCookie (his much, much better half-LOL!)
Now please bear in mind I do not always share the same opinions as Larry. But I do no doubt get exposure to the radio in our household.
I don't know what to say of the future of radio. All I know is it is here and will be for a long time yet. In one form or another. My mom used to say "As long as there's ugly people, there will always be radio."
But not to offend, my only serious problem with radio is all this talk. I don't think it's going to be popular long because it seems like people are complaining about the lack of music on music stations. Jack gets really tiring with the same voice-over over and over. Larry loved it until the voice over irritated him so bad, he doesnt even listen to Larry & Willy on Jack in Vancouver anymore. And he has been a loyal listener of theirs for years.
I don't know what to say about the whole Mike Webb ordeal. Other than I think he said way too much to the newspaper reporters. He turned a simple driving without insurance matter that wouldn't have gotten any farther than a municipal judge into the type of scandal he relishes when it's happening to the other side. It's a karmic lesson, but one a brave man can own up to and rebound from. I don't think anybody's past mistakes should be a permanent ball and chain. He should be given the chance to learn from them. He has earned it. Because Mike Webb has worked hard to get to KIRO. And that shouldn't be overlooked. I do sometimes think, as with Larry sometimes, that he does get a little off the point with their emotions. But I have noticed that's a common trait amongst a lot of people. Not just in this industry, but everywhere. We are every bit as fallible, intentionally or not. Inside, we are all good people. Never forget that.
The ratings system is babble to me. What I don't understand is the selection process of those who participate. Can anyone get a book?
Happy New Year!
