RADIO X - New Modern Rocker at 94.7FM

As reported by Scott Fybush in this weeks NORTHEAST RADIO WATCH, http://www.fybush.com/nerw.html WLIX-LP is now broadcasting on 94.7fm.

RADIO X as they are calling themselves is a 100W low power station licensed to Ridge playing modern rock.

The 94.7 frequency is also home to WFME which broadcasts Family Radio.

Even with its extremely limited coverage area, I heard the station in Patchogue and Holbrook yesterday and rather enjoyed this broadcast alternative to WLIR-FM.

Does this mean I can go to 94.7 and hear 'Personal Jesus'???

Sorry, had to do that. Once again, Central Suffolk gets a 'tease' when it comes to modern rock/alternative... 107.1 with WXPK and WLIR killing each other, and the same with 94.7 as WLIX-LP and WFME signals barely reach, but you can hear the 'noise'of both.

Never understood why there's two stations on 94.3 and now two on 94.7, but none on 94.1, 94.5 or 94.9 anywhere around here.

I see from their web site that they are owned by Big Sticks Broadcasting.

This is the same company that owns the copyright to "JACK-FM"

No, they are being consulted by Big Sticks, the station is owned by Pine Barrens Broadcasting. I guess we need to change the website around a little.

My mistake. I saw "A BIG STICKS BROADCASTING STATION" at the bottom of their web site and incorrectly connected the dots.

Because:
- a station on 94.1 would interfere with WNYC/93.9 and WJLK/94.3 and WMJC/94.3
- a station on 94.5 would interfere with WFME/94.7 and WJLK/94.3 and WMJC/94.3
- a station on 94.9 would interfere with WFME/94.7 and WRKI/95.1

Yes, but wouldn't a station on 94.7 interfere *more* with WFME? Wouldn't two 94.3's interfere each other *more* by being on the same channel, than the interference one of them would cause a first-adjacent by being on 94.1 or 94.5?
