Radiogeek's entry into ownership of a HD Radio

I just got my tax refund, so a little will go into a HD Radio.

But I am wondering, should I go for it now or hold on to the money and wait for

A. Better products
B. Lower prices.

I haven't heard too well on the Boston Acoustics Radio on this board and it's a mystery as to when I would even get one from Radiosophy and the one with a CD, the Polk I-Sonic won't even be out until the summer and I don't know if they'll lower the price on that($599 seems a bit too high).

What do you all think? Wait a little bit or jump in the fray now?

And what are the reviews for the Radiosophy one anyways?<P ID="signature">______________

My suggestion is to wait a bit. Reasons:

1. The prices fall dramatically as a new technology is more accepted by the public. Compare the prices of a DVD player now to what they were when they were first introduced.

2. There are some flaws in the Boston Acoustics model as reported on radio boards. It seems that in remote areas, the HD signal will only come in with an external antenna.

3. Presently, the programming on HD stations are essentially music streams. The big station owners like Clear Channel and CBS have started stations, but have not developed the programming since there are so few radios out there.

It all depends on how anxious you are to get a radio. Prices will of course come down. I am enjoying my Kenwood. I would love to try the all in one JVC that just came out.

I have an order for 5 Radiosophys. I have not heard any reviews yet, but I am anxiously awaiting them!

There are a few HD2 stations that are actually programming for HD2. WJMK HD2 in Chicago is using Dick Biondi at night, and it is a rather enjoyable show. Though some may be a juke box I have enjoyed Chicagos WTMX and their Totally 80's programmng.

More programming will come along. This is just so young right now. It will develope.
