RadioLoyalty

Their selection is very limited. I bet I could find all of those stations (And more) on TuneIn

Just sayin'......

Cheers :D

From what I've read LoudCity(LC) is in negotiations to integrate small webcasters into RadioLoyalty(RL). The revenues from RL would in most cases completely cover any bandwidth, automation and royalty costs. As an example last summer when my LC station was on iTunes I had a TLH of 24,000 a month. Multiply this by $0.03 times 12 months and you have over $8000 USD annually. Taking into account royalties and income taxes you'd possibly realize several thousand dollars a year. Just think, instead of paying it all out of pocket or begging for PayPal donations you actually made money.

On their site RL claims 33-38 million visitors a year to their site. Hopefully this translates to a lot of traffic to individual stations. In the meantime We just have to wait and see what sort of deal transpires. ;)

Could that be the reason why they haven't replied to me as far as my interest on launching up to 4 new steam radio stations. I can't find rates, enlist or get a reply and all I get is directed to a Loudcaster page.

It must be. If you're small potatoes like me then you're better off waiting for the LC deal to come through. You could go ahead and sign up up if you wanted to with Radio Loyalty but you would be wholly responsible for paying royalties. That's gonna run you about $2,000-$2,500 in fees alone a year and there is a lot of paperwork involved. Going through LC is a much better deal as they have negotiated a lower rate and they act as the middleman.

Old thread I'm resurrecting here, but does anyone have additional information on the potential RL/LC deal?

Since I haven't seen anyone really answer the question here, let me give you an update. What I was told by RadioLoyalty is if you are a LC Station they have to pay the advertising commissions to LC who would then take a cut and give you some of it. LC's license only covers streaming ads provided by them!

I have been with RadioLoyalty from their infancy and LOVE their program, but don't want to give up a percentage of my advertising revenue to anyone!

ANSWER: I now use StreamLicensing (there's a link to them in my signature) because their agreements allow me to run ads in my stream without any additional licensing. RadioLoyalty provides me a UNLIMITED IceCast Stream at 128k in exchange for using their player. I earn money each month on pre-roll, banner and in-stream ads that they provide. I can sell and run my own ads and don't have to give them a penny.

I use a frame to pull their player into the custom HTML page provided by StreamLicensing. I will be changing Acoustic Alternative over to StreamLicensing this week and will redirect my index to the custom page as I do now with LC. Check it out for yourself: http://acousticalternative.com this is a simple redirect. Once the switch is completed, nobody will ever know the difference because all I will do is change the redirect to StreamLicensing.

You still need to promote your own station if you want more listeners. I never rely on other services to do that for me. At the time of this post I had 2,032 users of my station toolbar and over 200 installs of my mobile apps. I got those free (another link in my signature).

In conclusion, RadioLoyalty direct deposits money in my bank account every month, non-fail. I save money with StreamLicensing, get free streaming from RadioLoyalty and get paid to promote my station. What more could I ask for?

Let us know when you've made the switchover to StreamLicensing.

With the way you are going to be setup, will you be allowed to run on air paid advertising?

I already have one station with them now and yes, I can run in-stream commercials.

I run that one for Alternative Revolt Magazine.

Of course you don't pay RadioLoyalty anything, they are a team of sales people. They work very hard to close deals with advertisers. Anything they pay you is less their commission. They don't work for free.

The "cut" to LoudCity is a byproduct of how licensing works, which you will come to learn as you gain more experience in the business you are involved with.

If the money flows directly to a broadcaster, then it needs to be declared by the broadcaster on a month to month basis, which impacts the service fee that the broadcaster pays to the entity they are broadcasting through. The net result is the broadcaster pays more money to LoudCity, StreamLicensing, SWCast, ACME-cast...whomever.

Alternatively, if the money flows through the licensed party first, in this case LoudCity, obligations on that money can automatically be deducted, and there are no further formalities. Our job is to reduce friction for small broadcasters by eliminating as many steps as possible. If we can remove one more form or button click, we'll do it.

Brandon,

I'm not here to get in a shooting match with you. I have said over and over agin that LC is a good company.

According to the licensing agencies, if you pay me money I have to claim it anyway. When I claim it my rates are going to increase after a certain point.

I simply see the value with StreamLicensing. I like the fact support requests are answered shortly after submitted, not 2-3 days later, and the owner of the company returns my emails and is readily available to his clients.

I'm just adding to the discussion because one could read some statements and draw inaccurate conclusions.

I wasn't aware this was a shooting match. If you're suggesting we have been neglectful, ignorant or otherwise incompetent in making sure customers needs are met, which isn't the case, then one could interpret you are trying to engineer a shooting match.

All I want is for you to be a happy and successfull broadcaster. Be well.
