RadioPages Blog Announced

I have started a RadioPages Blog. I really have been resisting doing so, but it gives me a little more flexibility when it's too soon for another edition of Radio News. http://www.myspace.com/radiopages

It's a good start to something big, and it's in my Favourites now. Keep it updated !

Even though Myspace is the fastest-growing web site in the entire world [no cite needed since it's common knowledge] I've also resisted the temptation to create my space on Myspace. If I do decide to jump the shark [jump on the bandwagon] then I'll merely utilize it as a cross-promotional tool for my official web site.

That's the idea!

The rest of what goes on at myspace seems to be mostly silliness and overkill. Backgrounds that interfere with reading the text.... photos that are either obscene or someone else's intellectual property.... loud music that starts when the page loads, even if you are listening to something else.... basically, a lot of novices whose idea of a web page is how much they can cram into it, rather than whether it is intelligible. Too much special effects and not enough information.

Check out what I did for the music section in the left column, different from the other pages I've seen.

Let me know when you set yours up... I'll link to it.

I'm debating it. Altogether, I despise MySpace, but the more and more popular it gets, the more and more I feel it may be useful to have a page. I'm just not sure I want to jump on the bandwagon.

You're right. It has replaced aol as THE place to find children,
troublemakers, spmmers (using the free trial), and clueless
newbies, a reputation aol took many years to shed.

I have taken the opposite tack... there's nothing on my
myspace page to attract children or teenagers, except
and unless they are radio fans. Otherwise, I think my
page would be quite boring to them. No gossip, no
personal info, no favorite bands or celebrities.

There *IS* a Tiny Tim video on the page, but because
it is relevant to local radio. You'll see.

BTW, Steve.... Looking forward to it.

73s and Happy Thursday!

I don't know why this came to mind, but since it did I'll just put it out there to get it off of my mind.

AOL is like that HUGE blockbuster runaway ratings-leading hip new TOP 40 radio station of the mid-1990s that everyone was listening to because it was innovative and state-of-the-art at the time. But then after years of mismanagement, neglect, and failure to move on and modernize with the times it got stale and old. It's merely a shell of what it once was. How appropo.

MYSPACE is the current flavour of the year. It's that new 'Rhythmic-A.C.' radio station in town.
