RadioPeople that started in Williamsport

I've read many post from CentralSouth, PA, how about NorthCentral Area? I started at WMPT AM and FM in 1977 and remember that there were many, many starts from this station and from Dave Castleberry the owner--Kirby Confer and Paul Rothfuss-later owners of Keymarket Comm. Mike Steinhilper Sr. now in GA. Greg Isadore. Tom Tuner is in Williamsport - Mike Doyne, Stu Karchner, Sue Andrews, Jeff Baughman, Tim Spring, Nancy Faye (Place). Others I remember working with are Vic Micheal, Ted Saul, Kelly Watts, Cliff Horton, Bill Byham, Bob Evans, the list is long and these are just the folks I remember from three years of working there. Some of the best times in my career were at this station. Do you remember anyone from this area?
Edited by NighttimeNoise on 03/23/06 03:23 PM.

I started at WILQ/WLYC in Williamsport in 1994. I worked with Barbara Evans, Michael Gruver and Doug Herindean. I for the life of me can not remember anyone else. I think the morning show was Bill somthing and the overnight guy's name was Brian somthing...kids, don't drink

When I started in radio in 1977, WILQ was not Stereo or 24 hour, in fact, they were country from 6am to 7pm then Rock/top40 from 7pm til signoff at midnight.

I also remember a story Vince told me about calling the competition (which I think was WMPT) and convincing them he was from the FCC and getting the PT jock to shut the station off.

Ah, the good old days....

Wow! Talk about memory lane! While technically I'm not in Central PA, I was most recently mornings at WRFY, Y-102 in Reading.

Got my start running Yankee games and filling in for Bob Evans at WWPA. I will never forget the morning that Ken Sawyer called me, right after I graduated from high school! Ken was mornings, Gary Christmas was mid-days, Scott Masteller was afternoons and Bob at night. I remembered Bob because he was at WMPT doing mornings and was gracious enough to give us a tour when I was younger and wanted to be in radio!

When Bill Ott bought the old WSQV and wanted to start WYRS I was hired full-time for nights and did that until leaving the market for other areas of the state.

Thanks for the memory trip :)

-Scott
