RadioRejects

Got to hear most of the show Friday,,Braden & Vince played off each other very well,,Lots of calls,,had good guests (Comedian Catherine Maloney and the Crew of Gaspar pirates)..Did hear some dead air during a break(board-op?)..In all it was a good live show and I look forward to listening next week..
P.S..Loved the caller who was listening online in PA...very cool.

1340 Has some great programming, I think. Of course I'm biased cuz I do a show on there too... despite the tiny signal, there are some great programmers there. Where else can you hear lesbian christian chicks one hour, gun nuts the next hour, progressive talk the next hour, and then Alex Jones... they've even got swinger chicks... it's baller.

Wow! Looks like I can call 1430 "terrestrial radio's talk superstation"! ::)

LOL it's not that bad if you can hear it. Their night-time signal is terrible, but in the daytime they're getting out, especially KLRG, that's their 50,000 watt blowtorch in Sheridan, Arkansas. I dunno, I just find Tantalk very refreshing after spending the last 4 years doing corporate radio...

If only they could increase their signal they'd give the big 3 in Tampa-St Pete a run for their money. Heck, I've even been listening to 1340 during the mornings lately; WFLA is tired [especially this week], WGUL is typical "Beltway" Dem-vs-Rep everyday, and WWBA is still searching for a niche for the past year. At least 1340 is not the typical Tejano bleed overs, Disney, sports [yawn], or "according to scripture" formats.

So true... sitting at the board right now... BTW Druid, they're also on 880 KLRG... :)

Their 50kw omnidirectional blowtorch becomes a 220 watt highly directional pea shooter at night from a second transmitter site aimed right at their COL, Sheridan, AR. Cannot even be heard in Little Rock although they are working on a translator in the city.

KLRG is the "Little Rock Giant" .. HUGE mid south signal. Better than KAAY. And Cedric is right. His show is fascinating, and overall for a non-radio jaded former jock (i.e. Regular listener) it's like channel surfing late night cable without having to watch TV.

Was in Florida recently and WTAN's signal is really very good..and 1350 although the audio rather sucks, has a good coverage. If Dave would purchase 1550 in Tampa he would have a real contender.

I think they are still using some of my IDs etc. I need to remember to ask Wagi for some restaurant trade next trip down.

1350 is using a Harris solid state transmitter with an Orban for the processor. Don't remember the model of the Harris, but as you know it's a 1KW station. I think the Orban is set to run with the default setting.

Oooo, I didn't know they were trying to get a translator... I really hope they find a way to improve that night signal on KLRG. I'm not sure which station they're protecting or if they could even upgrade their license class... but we've gotten calls from Sheridan at night before... and even a couple from DCF... and you're absolutely right Jeff, TAN is like the cable access of Tampa radio. I'll shut up about it now, but I really have been having a blast working with the programmers there right now. It reminds me of the talk radio I grew up listening to in the 80's.

Audio from the WTAN studio to WDCF (not sure if KLRG is picking up this feed too but I imagine it is) is via Windows Media Encoder running on a separate computer in the studio. I think this also provides the feed for their studio video.

That is correct. Been that way since Dave bought the station from Collins.
