Radio's Election Coverage

KIRO's doin' a great job tonight - not sure about the others...

Cantwell has already won - YOU GO GIRL!

I thought KUOW's coverage was far and away the best. Like usual. My only complaint being that they should have inserted a tiny bit more local coverage. But in this kind of a contentious year there was a lot of interest in the national stage, so hard to balance.

I was extremely disappointed with KOMO. Mid-day yesterday, hoping for some tiny scrap of an update while here at work & unable to tune in the radio, I pulled up their "new" website. Not a thing about the election! KIRO's was not much better. KUOW's, again, was the best.

Are you disappointed in KOMO not giving election/exit poll results, or lack of coverage of things like voter machines crapping out?

Nobody, not CNN, not Fox, not MSNBC....nobody......ran any exit poll numbers before the voting centers were closed.

KIRO did what KIRO does best. Agree with you both that KUOW was the strongest, and am eager to see how they upset the fall book for everyone. KOMO was a terrible disappointment for me too, they can't get it together in a way that offers a product that's more informative or interesting than KIRO on these big news event kinds of things.

What was KOMO lacking that KIRO had? Seems to me both had all the same players in place (reporters and commentators), but KOMO was also all over the flood stuff as well.

Granted, that was a unique news day with election and flooding both huge stories.

In the end I suppose it's a moot point. Outside of people in their cars not many people rely on radio for election night coverage.

That's not quite true...I know a few people, myself included who turned on radios in their homes because local election returns weren't covered on local TV networks until the 10pm news. They called the election for Cantwell at 8:01pm, you wouldn't have heard that unless you were listening to the radio. Most people don't listen to news radio at home.....but when TV isn't covering something, the radio gets turned on.
