Radiosophy specs

The frequency response is not any better then the $199.00 Radio Shack Accurian HD radio, but the Radiosophy costs $269.00.
freq. response 150 Hz to 20 kHz +/-3dB
Since most people can't hear above 15kHz and many people much less then that, I'd rather have better bass response then added super-sonic highs. Loud CD/Radio listening, rock concerts, gun use, industrial noises, and many other things cause high frequency hearing loss.
Other analog stereo FM radios have more useful frequency response, and cost less.
Most people are happy with the broadcast range and audio quality of FM, and the variety offered by satellite radio, iPods, MP3 players, the higher bitrate internet stations, CDs, and other audio sources, so there is little interest or benefit to this (and similar) HD radios.

"More choices means more consumption shock"

"(Incidentally - I predict 700WLW will pop along and post a copy/pasted piece of hate about HD Radio in the comments. Make your own mind up whether this is a spammer or someone making a valid point.)"

I've seen your comments on a few blogger sites, too ! :D

They should be more clear that the frequency response specified is OF THE SPEAKERS! Hook it up to headphones, or an audio system, and get fully extended bass, just like with the Accurian.

You can have a portable radio that's lightweight, or you can have good bass response. I've yet to see one that had both! Tivoli radios DO have an extremely pleasant tonal balance, but don't be fooled into thinking there's any deep bass pleasant. Your brain PERCEIVES there being more "down there" than there really is, because Tivoli carefully contours response to avoid the "shrillness" one normall hears when the lows are simply chopped off. Radiosophy should hire Henry Kloss to make some portable speakers that sound good. Wait, he's dead! Nevermind.

(When it comes to speakers for portable devices, I'm kind of from the Bose school. Don't measure it, LISTEN TO IT! EVERY small, portable speaker system will measure lousy. But some SOUND surprisingly good.
