RadioU in Seattle and Oklahoma City

RadioU says they are going on in those markets. Can anyone point me to the signals they are going on?

Thanks

Radio U tends to have a lot of translators. If there are translators available in the non-comm band they can feed by satellite, that's a possibility as well.

This could be in reference to CP's they might have gotten from the last full power non-comm window. They applied for a number of them and might have come up with a couple singletons or came up with settlement agreements.

They just bought the translators.

K206CJ 89.1 ISSAQUAH, WA

K293AY 106.5 ENUMCLAW, WA

K213EM 90.5 EDMOND, OK

No sale price listed.

and in a separate deal:

W203AW 88.5 FREDONIA, NY

Thats it then. I saw this on the radiou website today "We've got a couple of major announcements coming up about new RadioU cities. We're talking about doubling RadioU's audience and impact practically overnight! You'll need to listen beginning Monday morning, March 30th to learn more. These announcements are literally as big as when RadioU first went on the air 13 years ago!"

I am disappointed in the new facilities. They redacted the purchase price from the FCC website.

Radiou is going to be a satellator like all the others. However they are getting into the game really late so the best facilities are taken. The upcoming LPFM rules changes could seriously affect this avenue of growth.

Radiou is a very interesting if you have a heart for young people ministry. I don't really think this satellator thing is going to mean much for them. Imo they really need local stations in university towns or near military bases with local concert events. Where are the christians that will do this with Radiou? They don't seem to exist. I was hoping this seattle and oklahoma city thing was a break through for them.

A lot of LPFM's that proclaim 'community radio' are no different than Satellators.. The local LPFM here runs Pacficia programming (I don't know how that is LOCAL to my community since Berkley is 3000 miles away) and the other time they are running music on shuffle via winamp. That's not local radio either.. At LEAST RadioU is LIVE in their day parts with a request line that someone can call into. While their presence in these markets will be translators at least it will give something different on air that other folks are not willing to do. These translators could be another repeater of NPR, KLove, Calvary Chapel or AFR.. At least RadioU is doing something different that very few are willing to try.

Great point 'Kat'..... I find that Radio-U and Way-Fm try to put as much into their translator audiences and attempt to maximize a 'connection' with the listeners than the other network based CCM formats (ranging from ac to rock-alt.)....

Radio U's Satellator just came on in the Seattle area. Sounds pretty good, but limited to mostly the Eastside and Issaquah. Can't yet pick up the Enumclaw op just yet.

It's heavy-metal Christian, which seems a little contradictory. I've never heard of yelling and screaming with loud guitars from a Christian station. Oh well, better than Calvary Chapel.

No where in the Bible does it say Christians can't rock out to music with a beat :) I love what RadioU is doing, they are reaching a segment that would not tune into a Calvary Chapel or CCM station.

Just did an event including a Christian rapper, alternative band, and a group that I found flat-out unlistenable. Yet, its lead singer took two asides to witness to this young crowd, and his band appeared to sell more t-shirts than the other two combined. Since a friend who used to follow death metal explained to me that these kids will study the lyrics diligently, I am glad that they are being reached with a positive message through this band.

I think that people who know this may be more inclined to support such acts, whether or not they like them personally.

I am so jealous that you have a station like that there. The impact on young people in your area will be tremendous! Lives changed for Christ - it will be a beautiful thing to watch, the transformation in the attitudes of kids in youth departments in churches across your city. The music may not be to your liking - but it is imperative to reach these kids for Christ before their minds get closed as adults.

Incidentally - the hymn stuff - PW stuff - it is as irritating to me as Christian rock is to you - it is all a matter of taste. I prefer Christian music with some meat to it - lyrically and musically.

There is a local high energy station in Oklahoma City. KZTH-FM 88.5 MHz

check them out! Great Music and LOCAL ON_AIR TALENT. josh
