We're getting a lot of content for less than $13 a month (43 cents a day). It's my lowest bill every month. I would pay double that, but {shhhhhhhhh} keep it on the down-low. I don't want them to get any wise ideas !

That's a good question. I just sent XM $370 to lock in my current rate for 3 years. As a 55+ listener, terrestrial music radio isn't an option for me. For the sake of its own survival, I would think terrestrial radio will figure out a way to make 55+ programming profitable by 2009. But I'm not counting on it. I think that an XM increase of about 5% per year would be reasonable. That would bring the 2009 cost to about $15 a month without discounts. I could handle that with no problem.

I can only look back to what I said in the late eighties / early nineties, when I added DMX and Music Choice to my cable TV plans for $11/month, "Gee, I would be willing to pay twice this amount if I could get it in my cars". I will do just that when combined XM & Sirius units eventually come out. I expect multiyear plans for both XM and Sirius to cost about $25/month including taxes.<P ID="signature">______________

Keep in mind that the readers of this site have a special interest in the radio industry and are therefore much more motivated than the average listener. I think if rates ever rivaled cable TV rates you'd see subscriptions plummet.

If they keep cutting Music Channels BANDWIDTH for Baseball, Football, etc I will have trouble handling ANY rate increase. Speaking for someone who has been with XM since the beginning, I can safely say that the audio quality I once enjoyed on the music channels is no longer near the quality it was...

just so you will know the new channels are already on the air but only available to certain people..and at midnight they are cutting 4..so some of the bandwith is coming back..
