It isn't supposed to communicate anything to anyone other than it is a part of my signature. Thank you for asking.

But what does it mean??????? I think that is the heart of the matter. When this is used in a signitare, what does the word mean as in to what is the definition of the word in this context? Not to pick on anyboyd's way of sighnigh off at all. I think we all want to know what that means and if a person chooses to use it they must themselves know what it does mean and can tell us all what it means. I have seen this before, but always thought, "hey, what does that mean and how can I find out what it means?" i think this is a good opportunity for me and everybody to find out what it means. Totally ON topic!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek:

:) ;) :D ;D :mad: :( :eek: :eek: 8) :'( :-* :-\ :-X :-[ :p
Gee, I'd have to agree with "Sniff." And I bet I can use more faces than him. I used to subscribe to Esquire magazine. Do you suppose he works for them and wants it in his name so everyone will be impressed. Naw....sounds like he has a pretty important job with whatever he does.....not in radio...or maybe yes....I don't know I gotta go. :'( :-* :-\ :-X :p :-[ ::) ::) ::) :eek: 8) :( :mad: ;D :D ;) :) ::) ::) ::)

Interestingly out of all the Radio-Info boards I frequent, the Raleigh board is the first and only one where anyone has asked for a definition of anything associated with my name and signature. I asked about WPTF’s numbers, and although the question at hand is completely off topic in relation to the Raleigh ratings, I will address the question relating to my signature since it seems to be of such interest to a chosen few.

First, it has nothing to do with Esquire magazine as I am not associated directly with any publishing company. I am, however, a media broker and consultant. In other words I sell radio and television stations to a variety of buyers and I also represent an even more diverse group of media sellers.

In addition to the title “Esquire” found in my signature, which those of you who have asked about it have obviously noticed, there is also a web-link - www.jmtillery.com found beneath my actual name. Clicking on that link and viewing the website associated with it will fully explain the business I am engaged in and what I do.

To be more specific regarding the Esquire definition, Esquire is a term of British origin. In the UK, it is a title of respect previously accorded to gentlemen of higher social rank but which has since come to be used, with no precise significance, as a general courtesy title for any man in a formal context. Since I have British roots from my father’s side of my family, I have adopted the term Esquire as part of my ancestry.

In final, The America Bar Association has unofficially adopted the term Esquire to identify attorneys at law although non-attorneys may use the term so long as the person using the term Esquire does not hold themselves out to be a licensed and practicing attorney at law.

I trust the above detailed explanation answers the question to all those interested regarding the title Esquire and why it is associated with my name found in my signature.

Ya know, Mr. Esquire, I'm sure no disrespect is meant but I would guess someone's "pullin' your leg" or "jerkin' your chain". BTW. you'll find many in this part of the world with a British heritage.

I surmised as much considering the term is quite common knowledge among the majority; However, in all fairness, since I was asked, I gave a detailed answer leaving no room to question me any further later. Interestingly my father was born and raised in North Carolina, and I still have family in Eastern NC to this day. By the way, I can "pull legs" and "jerk chains" with the best of them...

@jmtillery:
Don't take the new people as representative of anyone from NC. Nor Sniff either. :)

I used to put "quadraphonic, Esquire" on my calling cards, but that was back before Prohibition, when calling cards meant something. I started that back up in the late 70s, as kind of a retro homage. All the ladies thought I was related to Billy Squier, which was a bonus for my team, until he made that "Rock Me Tonite" video, then all they wanted to talk about was where to get cut-up sweaters and sweatpants. That got old quick. After that video, I just told the ladies I worked for the magazine.

Impressive!

Not that you are but IF you're referring me I'm not new anything except maybe my first post to this site, although I've read this site from it's beginning. Born and bred in NC a long time ago and not trying to represent anything. I don't understand why either but I just felt Mr. Esquire was taking it all too seriously; he just needs to lighten up. In fact, this may be the start a new trend of titles and distinctions: Ph.D., D.D.S., V.H.S., E.I.O., who knows?

"Dr. Esquire" simply asked a very elementary question regarding WPTF's ranking and nothing more. I responded to the off-topic, completely unrelated to radio, in particular Raleigh, North Carolina radio, question in good faith, accepting the previously asked question at face-value.

Yea, but what are you trying to say I thing is what wrong fork is saying if I may be so bold and not mean to step up on to anyone toes.

Also, for the records, I too have spend many years in NC and sometimes also call it home too. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

I don't think WPTF has any good ratings anymore since the leaving of "Zoot". to answer the original question that started it al lin the beginning in the first place, the ratings are not good and the new PD loves to hear his own voice if he still works there he's on too much stuff and needs to take some phone calls and do a live local show. The show he is doing could be piped in from anywhere by anybody even Dave Ramsey or Rock and Roll Dave!!!!!! ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) Reallt the ratings have not been good since Zoot and the new guy loves his own voice. Sincerely, Sniff, Esquire reader at the Dr. office and at my cousing's house!!!! :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) :'(

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I do not like the path this string is taking, because I believe that Sniffy has been eating too many tubes of his Zit medicine. And by the way.....has anyone else noticed that Mark Muller sounds like a FREAKIN' SMURF???? ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)
