WRDC never--and I mean never--had
any luck with local news; I remember at one
point in the late '70s they had their local news
at 7:30, after John Chancellor (WNCN does a
newscast from 7 to 8, after Brian Williams, and
I think it may do slightly better than 28's newscasts
ever did).

WNCN was still independent in July 1995 (I'm
not sure of the exact date NBC bought it), but
it was less than two months away from becoming
NBC for the Triangle. So if 28 wanted to pre-empt
Nightside, 17 was the logical place for it to go.

WRAL's running B&B at 1, followed by Golden Girls
at 1:30, wasn't exactly the best programming flow;
they eventually put B&B back at 1:30, with a syndicated
show at 1. I seem to recall that B&B aired a day behind,
and when it went back to 1:30 (on a Monday), WRAL
ran Friday's episode at 1, then got back in pattern at
1:30. As The World Turns and Guiding Light are still
in pattern at 2 and 3, respectively (don't look for any
CBS stations in this neck of the woods to move GL to
the morning), and Young And The Restless is still on
at 4.

Can you please post the listing for WUNC-TV 4 (PBS)?

I would if I could but unfortunately I found them off another board a few years ago and they didn't include WUNC. I saved a bunch of ones that interested me at the time but I've been deleting them off my computer, and most don't qualify to be retro.

Not to mention a commercial station airing kids' programming past 10 AM! And I thought the old WLVI was the only one that dared done that!
