Did "99.9 The Fan" participate in the Summer Book's? (They are WCMC, right?) I could not find them in the ratings! ???

Arbitron delisted The Fan for one book and wrote a note inside the book [like the yearbook club got mad at them I guess] because they were doing "unfair practices" and reminding diaryholders to fill out their diaries with their station name. Which reportedly violates Arbitron's sensibilities and sense of fairness....

The Fan was not delisted by Arbitron, only a notation in the book. They did not make the book because they did not meet the minimum reporting standards.

"Delisted" "unlisted"
"potato" "patahtoe"
when it comes to Arbitron, close enough

Main difference being a lack of listenership did it, not punishment from Arb.

Big difference. Delisted is a punishment for evil acts by the station. Unlisted means there weren't enough in-tab diary mentions for the station to be listed.

It would seem to me that bad ratings are bad ratings, no matter how you look at it!. Does anyone have any "inside" information how "The Fan" will try and fix the problem??

Hey, Stuart, the only thing worse than bad ratings is NO ratings! :!)

They need to market the station - with the power of that company, you would think there would be a great deal of cross marketing (especially with TV). I would even imagine using the TV guys for some radio - features or sports commentary at the least - and radio guys on TV.

I can't pick up their signal in Winston-Salem and do get to see WRAL often, so I don't know if that do any of that, but they surely should.

They market the hell out of the station!  The problem is their signal is crap.  It starts to get fuzzy as soon as you get to Cary.  Plus, aside from Dan Patrick they don't have anyone whose name you know.

Here's what you do...keep the Wolfpack and Canes. Even keep the Sunday NFL, but flip the station to FM Talk. There are a lot of big talk names without a home in Raleigh.

So, Robbie - if you went FM talk, what would be your lineup? Can any of the hot shows be had?

I have no idea. Isn't Bill O'Reilly out there for the taking? Also, I would imagine if someone offered to put Hannity on live rather than on delay like at PTF that show would consider moving to a new home in Raleigh. I actually would keep Dan Patrick - good, light fare in the mid day.

O'Reilly is out there - but hardly has the kind of track record to build a new talk station around. Boortz would be a better choice as far as syndicated shows are concerned.

Hannity maybe, but there are such things as contracts, and Curtis has a reputation for having good negotiators who know how to protect their interests.

What about Glenn Beck? Ed Schultz?

Of course, a great local show would be very important.

Dusty Dunn is on the beach. He might be too young for the likes of Big APE???? Hahahahahahah. Just joshin', ol' port wine cheese spread. You're the gincheeest.
