Rally - date and time confirmed!

B

Baby Boomer

Guest
February 21 - noon to 4 p.m. Quaker Steak and Lube. US 19 & 49th Street North in Pinellas Park.
JoJo Walker, Bill Connolly, Marvelous Marvin Boone and Rico Blanco will be there. Also possibly Marc Haze. Don't know if Mike Reeves will be able to make it or not.

Hope to see you there!

What a waste of time! A rally what BS. They got canned and havent found new jobs for a reason. They are dinosaurs with ratings that aren't great.

Hey ho, let's go.

I am all for the rally. I can't wait to see the throngs of people catapulting themselves against the building until there is a huge bloody pulp against the door. This will impress a manager or two.

Who in the world would have believed that the position of DJ was not secure? CBS IS NUTS.

I am sure we will hear Marvelous Marvey, Fabulous Frank, Radical Randy and all of the other 52 DJs back on the air by next week. I'll spread the rumor right now that they may even be on several air shifts and on more than one frequency at a time. You read it here first. I heard it from a drunk guy at a bar on Westshore. Drunk guys are never wrong.

;D

Seriously - I wish all of the guys from the Q good luck in the future. You are all very talented and knowledgable concerning your vocations. However, I doubt there will be many opportunities in Tampa.

Blitz - how 'bout you quit being so cynical and sarcastic? The Tampa Bay audience doesn't connect w/sales reps, but it does connect with talented, familiar voices who can relate to local and common interests. Realistically, not many of us expect a show of support for the fired talent to result in them getting their jobs back ... but we do expect it to send a message to the new folks in charge that we loved our familiar, local, TALENTED voices and we hope, albeit slim chance, that they end up on some station so that we may hear them again.

I'm with you babystringer. It may not get us our jobs back, but it does show support for local talent, something that Blitzstyle has never had I suppose..support that is. As for bad ratings? How do you stay in a major market for over 25 years and have bad ratings? Explain that Blitzstyle!

Of course they don't have jobs because all the major owners are cutting staff too except COX who has no staff to cut. Q105 was the last true personality music station in Tampa Bay. I can say that I still really miss it. I know it may not be back as it was, but then look at Jack in NYC. CBS knew they screwed up big time and for some unfathomable reason, fixed it. I hope to be there health permitting.
