One of the classic voices and interviewers in Philadelphia radio, Ralph Collier, died at age 91 this week. His daily interviews on WFLN for 20 years were insightful, gracious and educational - an interviewer with real class on a classy station. Not mentioned in the obituary, I believe after he left WFLN, his interview show ran on WBUX in Doylestown for a time, blending with their other similar Bucks County interview shows with Louise Collins & Joan Stack.

I enjoyed his interviews on WFLN. Especially when he did them at the Campbell Soup Terrine Museum.

The Tureen museum?

In recent years he's been on WWFM, the Trenton all-classical station that has an HD presence in both NYC and Philadelphia.

I wish WWFM had a listenable presence in the western Philly suburbs. We have no fulltime classical outlet in that area. So, I listen to Sirius XM... which is why I got XM when they first started. (I was living in sw Virginia at the time, and radio really stunk there, with the exception of one or two stations).

P.S. WRDV aired Ralph right up to the end. His widow says she's going to continue the show.
