Ralph Conde retires

Glad to see him hanging in there till Year 40. I would often listen to his Saturday talk show.
It was exactly the sort of thing that you never hear from big-market or syndicated radio, in that
the host, the guest, and most of the callers seemed to know one another personally. I remember
one time he and a guest were recalling that Partridge Family Mom Shirley Jones had once been
a cheerleader in Smithton. The rest of the show turned into guys around Ralph's age recalling how
gorgeous she was and badly they all had the hots for her. Was more like Saturday morning sitting
in the barber shop than listening to a radio show.

I worked with Ralph for several years at HJB. Argued with him, talked to him, ran the board for his shows, including the "Fifth Quarter. All I can say is he's one of a kind, and I loved every second of it. Congratulations Ralph!

Hope he enjoys retirement. Speaking of Shirley Jones, there's a movie thats a cult classic that was NOT a hit in the theaters called "Grandma's Boy" that Shirley Jones is in. You'll never think of her the same way again. She was hilarious actually, and thought about this when you mentioned how gorgeous she was many years ago.

I used to videotape my high school's basketball games for the school and one night Ralph was there doing the game. I kept hearing him refer to one player as "Smiley" until a time-out hit... and he came over and said, "Who's #30, he's not on my roster...". The old pro's way to cover.
