Rama Communications - good, bad, ugly

Any info on these guys? Considering an LMA with them, but don't know them except for what I have heard, which is mixed at best.

????

50 views and no one knows anything about Rama - maybe that is a good thing, maybe not.

I tried to research them a little and found that they have 3 separate NALs from the FCC
for viol;ations such as no working EAS, public file violations, and exposed dangerous high voltage
at the tower base.

Doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad company but proceed with caution.

I saw that too - looking for info about working with them on a LMA. Looks like almost all of the LMA deals they make fail. Just looking for all the info I can get. Thanks for the response.

I recall a young man who had previously worked with them that used to post here, and he had a fairly obvious opinion of what he thought of them. I don't think he's permitted to post much here any longer but he did have specific knowledge of some of their "problems". If he does still read here and happen to chime in, perhaps he can share what he knows...

Wondering if you're talking with them about an LMA for 1240 WKIQ? On a trip to Lake County over the weekend I noticed they've gone silent once again, and the previous LMA went sour from the appearance of the website they had setup. The LMA they have with 1410 WHBR (Heartbeat Radio for Women) formerly WQBQ sounds odd as far as the imaging and corresponding playlist I sampled some of over this visit... but it's better than what used to be there I suppose. (Regional Mexican where I wouldn't expect it to work.) Maybe it will work.

Another RAMA thing I recall.. was that "Traveler Information Radio" fiasco back a few years ago. They had the DOT put 1680AM signs on all of the major roadways (interstates and tolls mostly) promoting the automated broadcast, which wasn't too bad of a format if you were a tourist listening for the information they gave out. Anyhow, after a few months of getting signage at literally almost every on and off ramp around the large coverage area that 1680 signal allowed, they flipped to SPANISH and moved the TIR down to 1300 in Cocoa.. which had no where near that amount of coverage 1680 had... They gradually (read: slowly) had the road signs updated... more wasted money.. and abandoned the format altogether a few months after moving it to 1300. There may be supporting details underlining these moves that I'm not aware of, but this combined with the testimonials of that former employee could very well raise an eyebrow or two.

As one of the orginal's from WRKT (WTIR) 1300, I've been trying to get the station back for years...I thought WMEL was there now?

Yeah, that fellow from South Carolina, forget his name was there for a while>>>

The WTIR experiment was there.. then 1300 was Spanish I think? Then it became WMEL when the 920/1300 swap occurred.

You are talking about a guy named Paul. From my understanding, he is no longer in South Carolina and has since moved out to the Mid West...

Yes, I was referencing Paul W. I caught up with him after adding to this thread the other day. He knows the bad, ugly portion of RAMA.

Are you gone from Daytona?

Yes, I have left WELE Daytona Beach. I'm sure you have heard about the recent events over there involving the station owner.
