Per the Corsicana Daily Sun:

KAND's Miller passes away

Roy Miller, best known as Ramblin' Roy to his radio listeners in Navarro County, has passed away.

Miller, who rejoined KAND Radio in 2006 after a five-year absence, first joined the station in the early 1980's with his unique knowledge and love of country music. Funeral arrangements for Miller are pending.

Sad to hear about Roy. I'm also surprised that Roy had actually gone back to KAND last year, considering that he had been unceremoniously dumped by them. Besides news from Dick Aldama, Roy was probably the only reason many of the people in Navarro County ever listened to 1340.

Does Richard Parker still own KAND? Anyone know about Perry Taylor and Dewey Beal?

Richard Parker sold KAND & the Cable Company a few years ago, he still lives in Corsicana. KAND moved in the late 90's to the Northside of town after the sale. Dewey Beal passed away around 2001 or 2002.

...as for Perry Taylor, I believe he retired from KAND in the Mid-80's (around '85 or so).

Dewey Beal and Perry Taylow

I worked there for a short while as Chief Engineer and had the pleasure of knowing all of those gentlemen. I remember Mr. Taylor was a tall man with an upright posture and a great speaking voice. One day, he was pulling copy off of the teletype machine next to the water fountain. Out of the blue, he began to curse the water fountain for what seemed like a full minute. He wasn't angry, perhaps just demonstrating that fantastic vocabulary. He never repeated a single swear word, it was a beautiful thing to behold.
