Stern is so dellusional and full of himself (check out the last sentence):

FROM DCRTV.COM:

Rampant Rumors: Stern Back To Broadcast Radio, Maybe ABC - 9/19 - According to John Mainelli in the NY Post, Howard Stern (left) may be coming back to broadcast radio, maybe to a network of stations owned by ABC. Radio insiders are reporting "rampant rumors" that the shock jock will "do an Opie And Anthony" and return to old-fashioned radio from the obscurity of satellite radio. [EDIT]

Howard addressed this rumor again this morning for the 1,000 th time. He said there is no truth to the rumor at all.

As for the dig at Artie Lange's movie. It did not bomb as this article reported. While, it did not do blockbuster numbers, it was not expected to. It is released in 3 cities and on less then 200 theaters. It pulled in an average of $2,000 per theater. This is almost on average with half of the movies in the top 10, not bad at all. It did exactly the numbers the producers expected. The movie will be released in more markets next week and WILL make back its investment of $2,500,000.

Did you get into your Delorean and go into the future GP? How do you know the movie WILL make back it's investment?

In radio, there is never truth in any rumor until they make the announcement.

Here is the link to Mainelli's article if you want read it for yourself (since the original poster did not provide it). Booty's headline is misleading. The story says Stern might make a deal with Citadel to return to terrestrial broadcasting - not ABC, which is selling most of its radio and radio-related properties. It is usually better to check the original source (in this case, the NY Post - not a DC radio board).

FTR: John Mainelli, in addition to writing a column for the NY Post, is an industry consultant and former program director at WABC, New York. He has contacts in the biz.

Didn't Farid Suleman put O&A on some Citadel stations already? Why would he try to sure-up some mornings on Citadel stations w/O&A, then bring Stern on and have to screw around with other stations?

But this is radio, stupid things happen all the time. Whoopie!

Very simple, I am in the movie numbers biz and I can tell you from recent trends and the DVD market trends that a Movie with the initial investment (as it was reported) will make back its investment. Especially since it has tested well with audiences and is opening in a wider release.

Oh of course, I can tell the future too. I know who is gonna win the World Series in a month because im in the "sports radio biz".

Dude, get a life, Artie Lange sucks and so does Howard.

Mainelli consulting

Of course, what Mainelli (and the board poster above) fails to mention is the fact that Mainelli is invovled with radio consulting. Perhaps a little logroll on behalf of some terrestrial accounts? Stern's success or failure as a broadcaster is not as much an issue as the unethical skunkiness that wafts from this lack of disclosure. Anyone care to go over Mainelli's career, including his ouster at WABC, and consulting over at the talk version of WNEW?

He needs the larger audience. Money can't buy you love, but you sure can have fun with it.

Actually, a famous d.j. (not Stern) said "You know how they say money can't buy happiness? They're wrong."

Rampant rumors that are untrue

Mainelli was fired from the Post last week. Once he was called out by Howard Stern the paper's management told Mainelli, "You can write for us or have your consulting firm, but not both."
