If you notice on their website, they no longer offer assembled versions of their RF products. And to get a 1 watt export version of one of their TXs, you need an Aruban (or similar offshore) address.

Too bad. It's just this kind of heavy handedness from the FCC/NAB two-headed monster that has caused me to pretty much quit listening to radio.

Should the day come (and it will) when internet radio can be heard in a car and every commuter has access to it, that's when I'll believe again in the power of the medium.

yea right.

then you will just have to deal with the RIAA/FBI/DOJ/US Copyright Office/FCC

While I don't advocate what Ramsey or the FCC has done, I'll stay neutral on this issue... but if you look at the $25,000 fine... it's a $25.00 fine for each unit and since Ramsey sold over 1000 units (avg.), I'd say pay the fine and call it a business loss.

Ramsey DOES sell FCC certified equipment and it's unfortunate that these small FM transmitters were not certified and they could have sold thousands more.

______________

Do you think that Ramsey would NOT have certified them, and "sold thousands more" to customers in the U.S., if these txs & amps in fact met the requirements of Part 15 FM?

That's something you'll have to ask Ramsey...

But another question is WHY the attraction to comment sooooooo much on my posts and replies?

There transmitters are such crap, they drift off frequency or have humming. I wouldn't touch it when I use to pirate.

So, you pay your fees and keep your act clean. At least you don't need to jump through any FCC hoops to get a license for internet radio.

But it seems that the FCC's more aggressive enforcement activity is coinciding with the ramping up of IBOC on FM.

As for Ramsey paying the 25K fine, that's only the beginning. They also have to prove compliance. Since the 1 watt amps were in the FCC's bombsight, I'm thinking they may have to be discontinued, kit or not.
