RANCH RADIO GROUP INS AWARD!

The RANCH Radio Group in Kerrville 923 THE RANCH (KRNH), SUNNY 96.5 (KSYY) and The RIVER 106.1 (KKVR) announced today that they had won the 2011 Bonner McLane Award for public service from The Texas Association Of Broadcasters. Congrats!

I don't that is true Hayseed. The Ranch Radio Group was the small market winner for 2011 in this category. It requires a presentation, etc from each station to qualify and proof of public service and not all stations enter, I'm sure. A station from Jasper won small market last year. Look it up on TAB and you'll find past winners and certainly not every station has won as you stated.

I've been one of the judges for the TAB Public Service competition in the past (not this year's) and I can confirm that stations have to work hard to earn this honor, providing a lot of free airtime, sponsoring public events and running remotes to help a variety of community non-profits during the previous 12 months.

There's a lot more to it than just reading liners or running canned PSAs from the Ad Council.

Plus, their presentations to the TAB have to provide heavily documented proof of how the local community benefitted from the station's hard work.

Congratulations to the Ranch Radio Group!
