the guy has been at gst for a few months.. do you really think he's the guy at fault? hasn't gst been sliding for a couple of years now? like him or not.. he didn't create this mess, he's trying to fix it. a book doesn't make the radio station... it's several books. gst and randall have their work cut out for them.. you can't turn something around that's been that bad for so long. you should know that kapt. carl.. IF you know radio.
This is like saying flooding in New Orleans was a problem before Katrina. Spin it however you like, but there's no denying that WGST has half the audience it had before Randall started making changes. Perhaps you should go back and look the fall 2005 adult numbers before you go questioning other's knowledge of radio.
one more thing... karl... book to book.. yep they were down. what pd hasn't had a down book? look at every station in any market, numbers go and they come down. hard times for gst? sure, but blaming randall and only randall is nuts!
Thanks for the input Radiocat. I’d like to be accurate, so I’ll be happy to revise my previous post. Exactly how much audience has been lost since Mr. Bloomquist took over?

the flood began 2 years ago... bruce collins came in and the station was going down quickly. 35-54 men, winter 05 to winter 06... 3.6, 3.9, 4.3 (braves), 3.2, 2.6.. the cume winter 06 was better than 05.. t.s.l. down.. not half the audience. get your facts straight! this is what makes this board a joke.. crazy incorrect statements. randall is trying to make it better.. maybe he's not.. but he didn't start the flood.. it was raining long ago.
Sorry Randallcat, don't have access to all those internal numbers or the benefit of rehearsed spin used to passify angry clients and superiors. Only aware of "insignificant" data like Adults 25-54 which are indeed about half what they were when you took over. By the way, whose fault was it that you failed in Charlotte, Richmond and D.C.? Bruce Collins?HAHAHAHAHA! dude.. i'm not randall and do not work in news talk. i don't know about charlotte, dc.. although i thought i heard richmond was a good run, maybe not.. don't care. my only point is this... it's not right to go after any pd who has been somewhere for a couple of months and when the station was burning down quickly before he walked through the door. i think it sucks and it's wrong. i bet some of the guys or girls that have been let go were good people.. but it's a tough and most times a very unfair biz we work in.

Ah, these bozos just have a hard-on for WGST. Why, who knows? It's easy to pick on the new guy.

I thought Mr. Bloomquist came on board in late '05 and it's now mid-June '06, so that would make for a long “couple of months”.Speaking of accuracy Radiocat, I’m still hoping that you can provide factual information regarding WGST’s ratings before and after Mr. Bloomquist took over.

Ratings have only been published through April. Anybody who bashesa PD who's only been there six months knows nothing about radio. It's like turning around the Titanic. Very slow process.Capn' Karl, there's a nautical analogy for you. Are you still pissed youdidn't get the Capn' Crunch gig?

Randall probably made a huge mistake by even taking the job. there are 10 cooks in the kitchen.,. going after randall is silly and wrong.

It has been downhill ever since. Don't quote me, but I believe they went from a 2.6 to a 1.4 in adults December to present. Not quite the 50% fall claimed elsewhere but damn close.

We’ve beat this topic to death Radiocat. By now it should be obvious to Clear Channel that mistakes were made. Whoever is responsible will have to deal with the fallout, but the damage has been done.Best wishes to Kari Dean, Jim Gossett, Vanessa Jones, Pete Davis, Wayne No Offence, and all the others who got a raw deal. This pathetic bozo with an axe to grind and a hard on for GST is done.

Charlotte is only 25% black, the metro area around 15%

Interesting to note that Bloomquist's PD experience has all been in markets with large African-American populations. Those are the kinds of markets where conservative talk has historically underperformed.
