Randi Rhodes To Remain On KPTK

Despite Randi's bolting Air America (read the New York, San Fran and News-Talk subforums for more info) and landing with a new syndicator, it won't affect her affiliation in Seattle. KPTK has been running promos - and even reported in its local TOH news - that her "new" show will be carried on the station, effective Monday.

Well, thank you SO much for taking time from your VERY busy day to come to the Seattle board and post this update. I know the two dozen or so Rhodes listeners in Seattle are very excited over this development.

Actually I was appreciative of this post because I was curious what was going to happen at KPTK. DToTheJ's post saved me from having to look it up myself. So thank you.

KPTK couldn't be any wiser...Randi Rhodes has a HUGE hard-core of devoted listeners in the Puget Sound. They know it, their listeners know it and KPTK is guaranteed to follow Randi wherever she goes...

As for Air America themselves...shame on them. They just don't know what they've lost. All I know is it is going to make Nova M the LEADING progressive talk network in just a few short months.

And it's not helping Hillary's cause either. Randi's fans have now seen the ugly side of Mrs. Clinton's campaign camp and the latest polls show a sudden narrowing of the gap in Barack Obama's favor nationally and I believe it was the Air America debacle over Randi Rhodes that got him there. Further proof you just don't mess with Randi Rhodes. She's got just what it takes to tip the scales...

Bet Air America is looking at all this now and thinking "Uh-oh".....

Huh? What "sudden narrowing of the gap?" And to credit the Rhodes mess with having any noticeable effect on the national polls is silly. If anything, it will hurt Obama in November because Rhodes has alienated some Clinton supporters who will stay home or vote for McCain rather than vote for Obama.

I couldn't help but notice the latest ratings show that polarized talkers like KVI AND KPTK as well as KTTH are drowning in Seattle.

All that angry talk 24 hours a day must take a toll.

It used to be a few decades ago talk radio had more variety and less pompous grandstanding, I guess that was the fairness doctrine era, when radio DIDN'T stink like it does now. Nothing but rock throwers and tantrums now.

I dunno...you'll just have to ask the people who wanted to end the Fairness Doctrine and ask them what they had intended by ending it and if this is what they had wanted. Because this was the inevitable result.....

Ok, let's get a few things clear here ok?
First the only "angry talk on Air America affiliates is Mike Malloy, Randi gets fired up but that's because the Bushies give plenty of fuel for that fire.
AS for KPTK specifically let's look at the shows:
Stephanie Miller - not angry, a little too jokey but that's their show.

Tom Hartmann - Some of the most intelligent talk on radio, you can't listen to the show and not learn something.
He's also someone who doesn't yell or scream, he'll have a rational discussion with anyone whether you agree with him or not.

Ed Schultz - No anger there either, very fair to guests and callers even if they disagree with him.

Rachel Maddow - More of some of the most intelligent talk you will find on the radio, a GREAT show.
There's some fun but lots of intelligent discussion and guests.

Randi - if someone wants to call her show "hate talk" then they haven't listened to the likes of Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity or Bill "The Falafel" O'Reilly.
Her show is very different than most liberal talk shows, she gives it right back to those who want to always try to shout people down.

Mike Malloy - Not my cup of tea as he does do quite a bit of name calling but it's FAR from "hate talk"

Those are just the weekday shows, the weekend shows wouldn't even come close to hate talk unless you talk about Gardening in the Northwest then maybe you might get Scott Connor talking about hating weeds in his garden but that's about it.

Finally I will say that I don't think that Hillary supporters or Obama supporters will stay home and not vote should their candidate not win the nomination and I certainly don't believe that they will vote for Mc Cain because if you're a Obama or Hillary supporter you recognize McCain as more of hwat we have currently and there's no way you want more of that.

Randi Rhodes? A "deeejay"?! OK, so she whips out "Bounce Your Boobies" Rusty Warren every now and then. When's the last time she whipped out the latest from Maroon 5 or Sara Bareilles in THEIR ENTIRETY?

C'mon! She's got more important things to TALK about... So if she's just a "deeejay" in your eyes, either bounce your boobies to whatever music she has or just shut up.....

The swing is everything......
