Random aircheck -- KIKK-FM

thanks for the memories from KIKK! I miss that station.

Would love to hear an aircheck from Houston's 98FM KFMK back in the early 80s. Johnny Goin was one of the djs I remember.

Johnny Goyen was on Houston radio for many years beginning in the late 1960's. His father was the late Houston city councilman, Johnny Goyen, Sr.

I ran across a whole bunch of old airchecks of mine from KIKK. I may try and find the final KIKK breaks. I was on the air when they switched formats. I remember calling Mark in production when the music log on the Scott system was blank agfter noon. I said, "Today is it, isn't it?"

I remember I was airchecking everyday because we knew it was coming. I wanted to keep that last break. I'll look for it.

I remember KIKK had some bumper stickers out years ago saying "KIKK-UP Truck" . Alot of pickup trucks here in Houston had those. ;D

They also had "I'm Proud to be a KIKKER" bumper stickers. I think I have both stored in a box somewhere. Had numerous sets of both on my trucks, back in my KIKKER days.

Poops

one of the best logos ever with the cowboy boot call letters

the good ole days of Houston radio when it was great! KQUE, KFMK, KIKK, 97ROCK, K-Lite, just to name a few..

KIKK was first class all the way....awesome production studios, 2 full time production guys (Buddy Cantu and Don Harris) even had a fully staffed newsroom led by Chuck Wolf.

Charlie Ochs was p.d. and Joe Ladd was MD.
