I hear rumblings. Something may be in the works.
Whoa! Wonder what that can be about!
Through all this discussion, I just want to point out that although Indie was a so-called "financial and ratings disaster", what you can't debate is that it brought back exciting and unique commercial radio to the dial. I remember reading that when the original programmers of Indie were given the task to collect and program the station that they had never had so much fun doing their jobs, they would go to all the record stores in Los Angeles and bought off every great rock album they wanted on the station. Then the indie invasion came into the Alternative world, and Indie was there first, launching off the careers of music heavyweights like Muse, Death Cab for Cutie, MGMT, The Black Keys, etc. KROQ followed Indie respectively when it came to grabbing the best new releases, and the world followed KROQ.
Of course, free-form rock radio stations like Indie have never survived, just think of KROQ and KMET, but there's obviously a reason they always come back to rock Los Angeles.
There is no denying that there's always one station that you absolutely love but they take off the air, and for many of us Alternative fans, it was Indie 103.1. Will there be another one? Who knows. If there is though, I will definitely be tuned it!
