Random Thoughts

I just find it amazing that there's no talk station on Long Island. I know WLIE 540 tried it and failed, but I think it was all local and that's part of the reason I think it failed. It's too costly to run all local. One or two local shows and then national shows there rest of the day. There are 5 AMers going to waste. 540, 1440, and 1580 are all doing Spanish Language Christian Programming. 740 is doing Korean Programmign. And 1240 is doing Chinese programming most of the day. Yes 104.7 WXLM in Montuak is doing talk, but they're targeting New London, Connecticut. And 107.1 WLIR in Hapton Bays is a simulcast of WEPN (AM) from NYC.

540 AM is called Radio Luz.
1440 AM is called Radio Cantico Nuevo.
Is 1580 AM simulcasting WWRV 1330 from New York City? I thought I heard them ID the station as "Radio Vision Christiana" this morning.

Also what is the proper pronounciation of Babylon? During the Network Legal ID on 1440 they pronounced it "Bah-Be-Lahn". See Below:

WNSW 1430 AM Newark New Jersey, WNYG 1440 AM "Bah-Be-Lahn" New York, WXCT 990 AM Southington Connecticut, and WBQN 1160 AM Barloneta-Marti Puerto Rico.

Ah, there it is, another unwarranted reference to WXCT. ;D

But seriously, Long Island already has talk stations - WABC and WOR, for example... I mean, as long as you're using WLIR as an example (WEPN simulcast), you may as well WABC and WOR a bone. (No, not a WBON...)
