Producer, musician and `American Idol’ judge Randy Jackson’s Westwood One syndicated top 30 countdown show, Randy Jackson’s Hit List, will begin airing on Emmis adult R&B WRKS (98.7 Kiss-FM) New York on April 1.

"It is extremely exciting for Westwood One to partner with Kiss-FM for the New York launch of Randy Jackson's Hit List," said Chris Greene, Westwood One SVP Affiliate Sales & Operations. "Kiss FM is a heritage radio station in the number one market in the country and Randy Jackson is one of the top personalities in entertainment right now. It is a great match."

"We are thrilled to have 'Randy Jackson's Hit List' as a part of the Saturday morning line-up on Kiss FM," said Toya Beasley, Program Director WRKS-FM. "Randy is a huge star and the show is a perfect fit for the WRKS audience."

Jackson’s show is currently heard on more than 80 stations nationwide.

I've never been a fan of celebrity DJs. If ever there was a case for it, this is one. Randy actually knows how to articulate and speaks with talent and does so in front of audiences.

If there is skepticism on my part, it's because I can remember back to KISS-FM's disaster with Ashford & Simpson, Roberta Flack, and Isaac Hayes. All of those are excelent artists, but had no business whatsoever being on the radio as DJs.

I say let DJs be DJs and the artists be artists.
