I see Randy has landed at KJR FM as the new afternoon voiced tracked jock.

Randy is actually live and in color, not voice tracked :)

"Randy is actually live and in color, not voice tracked"

I must have been dreaming I was listening to Kolorful KOL...errr.., no, I was awake and listening to KJR FM. It is good to hear someone is live these days on KJR.

Glad to hear Randy on the radio again. He is a class act, consistent, format following, warm, happy all around good dee jay.

Okay, okay you're all ga-ga over a live voice on a music radio station. Jeeeez does this tell you something about the sad state of radio when people get excited about hearing a live voice. Don't think the pendulum is swinging back the other way and they we'll have live jocks in every daypart on every station in town. Remember, there was a paradigm shift and the bean counters won.

There's paradigm shifts and then there's yin and yang. Everything's a cycle really. Sometimes you gotta hit rock bottom before you rise back up.

Radio hasn't hit bottom yet, but it's getting there. That's why I say let it be. Let the industry implode. But the results will actually be good in the long run. It's time for a revolution anyway....

I was very happy to hear him when he first came to Seattle, as I used to listen to him on KLUC in Las Vegas as a teen.

hmmmmm, at least I think it was KLUC he was on in LV... my teen years in LV are kinda blurry for some reason ;-)

OH YA... and the fact that he works at KJR now; COOL as I used to work there too on the AM 950 when all of us were live. Jumping in live on the old K-Lite on occasion- to 'back announce' Desert Sheild and 'front announce' Desert Storm as I remember...anywho...

I have never met Randy myself but I have always considered him to be 'one of the great DJ's' that I have always admired and it is good news to hear that he is back on the air.

I noticed that Steve Slaton is playing up the "live, local radio" feature....especially around requests in the 5pm hour.

Kevin (the Busman) does the same thing on Q-Country 102.9

I haven't heard his weekday deal...but I feel horrible for Lunker because when I caught a weekend shift it was 6 songs (all separated by liners, jingles, etc.) and one back-announce and promo. Next half hour same thing. To bring in decent talent and say "grunt our calls twice an hour...but we want you to be here live and suffering the other 59 minutes" is kind of a waste.

Unless, of course, they have him doing some filing until his "break" comes up.
