Randy Michaels Acquiring WOXY

I like the Oasis programming. Was having some trouble pulling this in near downtown. I wonder if they are scouting a translator to fill-in?
Maybe they can take that 95.3 translator off of WDJO's hands because they don't seem to be doing anything with it.

WAKY was truly a great Top 40 station in the late 60s - early 70s. Too bad those call letters aren’t still on 790. But good for Randy for now owning that classic set of calls.

Gordon McLendon launched WAKY on 790 in Louisville in 1958, not the late 60's. Its best years, in fact, were the in the first decade.

I didn’t say they launched in the late 60s. I’m aware of WAKY’s history and the McLendon years. I was saying that for me the late 60s - early 70s era for WAKY was some really great Top 40 radio with Johnny Randolph at the helm and DJs like Dude Walker, Bill Bailey, Gary Burbank, etc. I used to listen to them here in southwest Ohio. 🎶 WAKY 🎶 (followed by WABC-style bell), jingle at front end of a stop set. Their daytime signal came in fairly well right next to 800 CKLW, another great radio station.

Btw, if I’m not mistaken, I think Johnny Randolph got his start here in SW Ohio on Middletown’s 910 WPFB.
