Strong rumor is that Randy has scored CBS stations. Who goes and who stays in Cincinnati?
 
Wow. If true, that's huge. The mind swims with the implications: Does this mean that Jim Bryant will stay? What was the relationship between the two like when they split? What about that weasly Mike Frederick?

Chris O'Brien and Janine Coyle were both there when Randy ruled. Will he can them with a format change? LaBarbara can file for Social Security.

What about programming? I can see him getting along with Marty Thompson, but what about Patty Marshall and whoever the heck is running 97.3 (I'm pretty sure it's a woman.) Will Patty be able to kiss enough butt to keep her job?

Come on, help me out here people. Nearly everyone in that building has crossed paths with Randy over the years. Who'll be left standing when the dust settles?
 
If true, I'd return Q102 to its roots, including marketing. Involve the listener. Giveaways, T-shirts....you have to admit, Q102 thrived until the mass exodus to 4th Street.

I wouldn't touch the formats except for GRR. GRR was always 55KRC-FM. Time to rechristen the lady. Bring back the jingles, rehire Danny Allen, etc. Bring back the community interaction.

One thing I would add....helicopter traffic reports. Is Maverick in a plane or copter?

Same studio location (in the shadow of 1906 Highland)????

Drop the smooth Jazz talk, not enough money or testosterone for Randy. I would look for FM talk with a Liberal bent and not that insipid humourless crap on AAR.

Whatever it will be, it will be entertaining.
 
I could see hot talk depending on which facility he could get rid of music on, it would be interesting to do the same with an FM talker that he did with WKRC and WLW in the 80s. Would he be able to lure away any WLW talent..or would he want to? WGRR may stay the way it is, but, no, it won't become a 55+ station. Smooth jazz..doubtful.
 
Uh .... it's a rumor. The latest in a long long string of rumors about this guy, many of which he probably started himself. We'll see.
 
If It were me hot talk replaces rock. Sterling is the only person from WLW I would want. Everyone else is locked in, too expensive or too freakin' old. I think Q and WGRR make good money and B105 is a lock.

The next generation talk, edgy and you can bet if it's Randy, he'll be pushing all the FCC buttons. He'll join CBS in the battle and not grab the ankles.

Personally this is fun speculation, but I can see Cumulus getting some, not all, Cincy properties in a trade for Houston and other markets. CBS can shore up their clusters with a few trades.
 
It's been a week....any updates or can we chalk this being another Randy Rumor?
 
Let's really open this up..

Let's say Citadel's deal drops through because of an investor revolt. ABC Radio & the CBS spinoffs are available at the same time.

If you were he.. What would you do? Go for the Major markets sticks or the CBS leftovers..

I have to wonder if they have room for this while still digesting - hell, I'd even go so far as to say they haven't swallowed it completely - their Susquehanna holdings. Even more interesting for Cincinnati would be for Cumulus to pull it off. What do you think would happen to YGY with B105 in the fold?
