Randy Michaels out at Tribune

I think their is way too much discussion about MR Micheals on this board... he isnt even in Indiana now. Let him retire,, he is very old and should spend some time with his family... Please give Randy Micheals a Rest,, he is not coming to Indy to program Old Folks music,, or anything else.. Once your out of Indiana,, who in their right mind would come back.

OK MWC, I will answer your questions: If you are 21, yes he is old. For the rest of us old geezers, no he is not.
The reason for the attention, there are contributors to this board who have had the honor to work for and with him. He is legendary to those of us for bringing innovation and out-of-the-box thinking to radio. He is not going away. This is a pimple on his arce that will be a distant memory.
As far as leaving Indiana, I left twice, came back twice. Been here over 20 years now. Don't like Indiana...LEAVE! This is home for the rest of us!

Im 30,, And I left Indiana twice and came back,, Virginia is actually much worse,, at least the Hillsville-Galax Area is,,, thats between Roanoke and the Tri Cities,,,, I used to live in Tennessee too, when I was kid,, I love it there, but my parents had to be lame and move to this frozen in Winter, and Blistering Hot in Summer hell hole... I moved to South Carolina too, but moved to a tourist trap MYRTLE BEACH in the dead of Winter and couldnt find work. I thought it would be really warm there, but honestly it was pretty much similar temperature to Indiana at Night...

I like Randy Micheals too,, In fact I wouldnt mind meeting the guy,,, Ive read alot on his history,,, I just think he needs to rest and spend time with his Family,, Im trying to say give the man a break,, let him retire to Florida and spend time with his family... I can understand that it looked as if I was lying.

WHAT family?

Randy has lots of family here.

In a study recently of what makes a great leader, Randy has all the qualities.

Then why is he gone? It seems that newspaper people stick together. The article in the New York Times was supplanted by someone at Tribune. Change is difficult for people who have no creative thought process. Then I read the article. There was no harassment. There were people who tried to make office interaction look like harassment. How did a newspaper in New York get their numbers? The staff at Tribune looked up home phone numbers on their employee directory and called a buddy in New York.

With a large company they have to be scared little girls when it comes to anything labaeled harassment. I again note his golden parachute should be a better way to spend time working on his next project.

I agree with you on this one Chief. I've worked for a station owned by a newspaper. You are right on target with the corporate mentality of newspapers. Tribune just couldn't handle it. WGN has always been one of the stodgiest stations around. How long before they go back to that sound.
