Randy Salerno passes away

Surprised nobody mentioned this earlier but Ch. 2 and former Ch. 9 morning newscaster Randy Salerno passed away late Thursday night.

He was killed in a snowmobile accident in northern Wisconsin.

Too sudden for someone that was warm, funny, and a while you did not know him, watching him on the news made you feel like you did.

CBS 2 website has some memories of Randy along with Chicago Tribune.

We will miss you. The weekday mornings will not be the same....... :(

This is a really sad story, I heard it this morning on WLS. I liked him on Garry Meier's radio show on WCKG, he was a very funny
talented guy. My deepest sympathy goes out to his wife and kids as well of his many friend's and family.
 
Sad and totally unnecessary. Drinking and snowmobiling don't mix any more than drinking and driving or boating do. Bad things happen. :mad:

My sympathies go out to his family, and his present and former co-workers at WBBM-TV and WGN-TV. I enjoyed his work when he was on the WGN superstation. He'll be missed.
 
Wasn't he (or his family) heir to the Salerno Butter Cookie money?

To me he always looked like he was wearing a toupee
