Randy & Spiff returning to air: 6a - 9a weekdays on WGST starting 2/26

Just heard on WGST that Randy & Spiff are returning to the airwaves on WGST from 6 to 9am weekdays. They start in 3 weeks.

Just heard a WGST news reader announce in the 1pm newscast that WGST will be 'live & local' in the mornings with the return to the air of 'Randy & Spiff' ... Wall St. Journal report 5a - 6a, Randy & Spiff 6a - 9a. Starting Monday 2/26. Rest of WGST schedule remains the same. So what do we think of this latest decison from the brillant minds at the building of death?

I know the guys need a job and are probably under contract with CC; but, how do go to work at an employer who has treated you like crap? Hopefully, they got more money. I wonder if paycuts were implemented just to give them their jobs back.

While I like R&S, how do you think Tom Highes feels right now that he's been replaced by 2 guys known for their morning show routines than being a serious morning show host at a news station? I don't see how this is ever going to work. I've got to give R&S credit for trying something new and different, but I doubt if Scott Slade is shaking in his boots right now.
As for the rest of the line-up. I thing WGST should strongly consider bringing Glenn Beck back. He's gotten a tone of notoriaty being on CNN Headline News of late, and that may translate into more listeners than he had when he was on a few years back.

Re: Randy & Spiff to WGST

I'm glad for them, but WGST's big problem in the morning is that weak signal before sunrise. Show's going to be half over before any one hears 'em.

Well, they talked too much when they were on 94.9...I don't see this fitting, either. Guess the folks at CC had to get some kinda use out of them since they were getting paid. Nice guys, but I'll be shocked if this latest role works.

They are used to repeating a lot of gags in the show's last hour that they did in it's first hour, so that shouldn't be a problem. The all-talk format may prove to be quite a challenge, though.

I want to see how well their new show is going to be promoted - and if they are going to be given the support they need. Hopefully, it's in their contract that they won't be treated like Kimmer.

Rest assured, they will receive zero promotion at all. WGST suits are only doing this because the two are being paid and they wanted "to get something for their money" as one source told me inside the Building of Death.

This has zero percent chance of working.

Note right now in the 5 pm hour, Dave Ramsey is doing a special hour of live / local content for WGST listeners, and taking calls from WGST listeners only He opened the hour by thanking Randy B., and also I think the name of the GSM, for making it possible. I don't think Clark Howard has anything to worry about, however.

Sorry. I just can't listen to that guy. In fact, I can't listen to anything on GST these days. I think it's all crapola. I want GST to give me a reason to come back, but I don't think that will happen.

Are Randy and Spiff going to do news or a wacky "morning zoo" show?

Once again, Freebird has no idea what's going on. This is totally fabricated and untrue.

They told Rodney Ho (and now the WGST website has a Randy and Spiff page up containing very similar information) that they are going to try and marry the two. They say you'll get all of the information (news, weather, traffic, sports, etc.), longer interviews with newsmakers that Slade isn't able to do because of time constratints, and they'll have fun in the process. It's a very innovative mode of thinking in my opinion. Information AND entertainment.

Sorry radiobuff. Everything in that post is 100 percent accurate. Confirmed by two sources within WGST.

...and unless those sources are named Chuck Deskins and Clay Hunnicutt, and I know they weren't, your "sources" are, as always, 100 percent wrong. Next time you need a source, call ME. I'll tell you what's really going on.

Your and your whining buddies need to turn off the radio and get some therapy. You complain that CC won't do anything new, and the next thing out of your mouth is "bring back the Kimmer." You claim Hughes, Schaffer and Peterson were fired unjustly... HELLO??!!! The had no ratings; they were driving away audience with their angry, snarling, fist waving, daily diatribes. Atlanta was sick of being screamed at 24/7. Why would the station want to bring in Glenn Beck or somebody else who is a carbon copy of everybody they just got rid of? Isn't Rush enough?

Randy and Spiff are a step in a new direction for WGST... a topical, informative and entertaining way to start the day on a positive note. It's time to swing the pendulum back the other way. The shock jocks are dead. I had the chance to be a part of the mock up for the new show, and my own meager contribution aside, it was the best hour of radio I've heard in this town in years. Too bad you didn't get to enjoy it, but there's more on the way.

It's funny because I've listened to WGST much more since Ramsey got there. I rarely listened when he was on 920, but I tune in for a couple of segments of his show just about every day. I never enjoyed the Kimmer's show at all.

Big thanks to Firebird for breaking a legitimate story about WGST. All we've been getting in the past few weeks is statements from Fantasia that are meant only to defame the company and its current staff. He thinks that he's a media outlet or that he's doing this board a service...but Fantasia, unless you're ready to start naming sources by name, then you're nothing more than a newsgroup troll. It's a wonder that the mods on this board let this stuff just float right on by.

Mr. Whit979,

I cannot, and will not, reveal inside sources. That would put them at risk at their jobs. Believe me, my sources are 100 percent on the money 99 percent of the time.

I never listened to these guys in the past, but I'm certainly willing to give them a shot. Local players over the Wall Street stuff is a good thing. I know why Slade gets good ratings, but I still find him a bit boring.

You're a little off on your math there, spud. Based on your track record on these board, your sources are 0 percent on the money 100 percent of the time. As I mentioned before, you definitely need new sources.

Yeah, I believe that's called defamation. If you're posting it, you're already putting those people at risk.

Maybe you should go back and read through your own posts. [EDIT]
