Randy, Walter and Company! New York and Chicago

Here I was hearing and thinking that Merlin Media was going to make this really big splash in New York and Chicago and so far what they have done is like throwing a glass of water into the ocean in the middle of a hurricane! Yawn! Randy and Co is a bit under prepared to be in the radio business in the country's largest radio market! I'm sure the suit's at CBS and others are really quaking in their boots over this half-baked atempt to reenter the business!

Blind Melon, Goo Goo Dolls, and Spin Doctors were the last 3 groups I just heard. I feel like I took a time machine back to 1997.

Listening to 101.9, at the end of a song I heard a gong. It definitely sounded like the one used on weekends between songs on NJ 101.5.
Also, the other board devoted to local radio has a post stating that Raquel Williams, a reporter at NJ 101.5 has resigned.
Monday seems too soon for the real format. I think it does take a few weeks to put together. My guess is that there may be different stunting, or some fake smokescreen programming next week. Merlin Media's Randy Michaels has been known to have fun in that manner.

What I read is that the real format is going to start monday morning at 6 AM.

What I see on the playlist on yes.com is that the music reminds me of the old WPLJ in late 90's early 2000, lots of HOT AC tracks and 80's pop/rock music.

If you listen to the telescoped stunting aircheck at formatchange.com near the end there is a promo about some sort of talk this Monday from 6 to 10am. It begins with a discussion about a breaking news story concerning Jennifer Lopez and Mark Anthony and ends by telling you to tune in Monday morning for more. This promo might have only run once during the first hour of stunting. No one seems to have heard it after that.

That's the vibe I'm getting... and, hell, I'm not even in "101.9 FM New's" target demo...

I guess the real story will be told next Friday after one week in the new format, that is if Randy, Walter and Company jump in with all four feet. Should make for a good gab feast all week and into the next.
