What do the morning rankers look like (no numbers, now)?

Looks like 96 and 99X took a hit 12 plus...

Commode floater, DaveFM is crawling downward again, too.

What about mornings on those?

As an added bonus, I offer one of those awful long-winded DaveFM "Wal-mart Walt Whitman" sweepers that seem to last in excess of three or four minutes. I never heard the end of them because usually about half-way through, the screaming starts.

"Jam: a jam is a precious time when a group of musicians get together and let it all hangout, no rules, just whatever comes to them and it feels so right, right then and right now. Jam is also that crusty stuff between your toes when you go ten days without bathing because... um... yeah, you spent your last dollar on a really great concert that you saw with really good looking friends because the music touches you, inside. Jam is also what your mom would spoon into her mouth for lunch after you left for school because she was too belted up on vokda-koolaid to make anything for herself. But you loved her anyway, except when she drank all the Purplesaurus Rex. This is your music. Time to jam. Just like mom."

Okay, whatever.

Toucher's take on ratings

from fredtoucher.com

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

As the show gets set to go on vacation for four days our hearts were warmed by the news this morning that we just had:OUR WORST RATINGS MONTH EVER!!!!!!!!!!

That's right! When I say bad I mean: REALLY F**KING BAD! Granted not as bad as Barnes but in some demos we were beaten by Polish Language NAMBLA sponsered 1 watt flamethrowers.

So Let's day the next few days to pretend that we are never coming back and review some things:

1) Go to 99x.com and sign up for our Podcast and hear ratings winners like: The herpes bit and our Rush song we performed with Butch Walker. AWESOME!

2) While on the mornings page at 99x.com check out the videos of Sebastian and Fat Kid at the Aquarium opening. PROMOTION PLUS!

3) If you haven't already join the message board on this site. Join the other .005% of Atlantas that just can't get enough TJL. THESE NUMBERS ARE FALLING FAST. GET IN NOW!

Re: Toucher's take on ratings

That's frickin' hilarious and I don't even listen to 99x. Got to love people who know how to make fun of themselves. Great sense of humor (standing ovation)! <P ID="signature">______________

If Barnes' show is so bad and TJL talk about it all the time, then how good can we expect TJL to be?

I hope all 99X employees are shining up their resumes. They'll need them in about six months.

At some point, 99X might have to jump off the cliff and make some changes, but I'm not sure where any real whole in the market exists.

But I'm in Portland, OR this week, where I've been listening to one of the best-programmed stations in the country, KINK-FM. The format is AAA, and it's the real thing. I've heard people say that DAVE-FM is AAA, but it's not. I don't know that AAA would work in Atlanta. For whatever reason, the markets where AAA does well have a very liberal Caucasian population; Atlanta does not.

A valid point. Maybe if they had a more self-deprecating sense of humor on the air, they'd be a little more entertaining to listen to. But the legends-in-our-own-minds routine grows older and more annoying by the minute.

DAVE promos/imaging

Cant agree enough about Dave imaging, promos and copywriting. Talk about annoying! Example: "It used to be radio was boring and predictable. At Dave FM, boring and predictable are bad words." That's just awful writing. Love the music and love the concept, but hate the overall "too cool for school" imaging.
