Ranking LA/Sacarmento news

Since the Bay Area was ranked, how would you rank the LA and Sacramento stations? IMO...

In Los Angeles:

KABC
KNBC
KCAL
KTLA
KTTV
KCBS

In Sacramento:

KCRA
KXTV
KTXL
KOVR

In Sacramento, Don't forget KMAX, KQCA, KSPX . Plus you omitted the Spanish Language Stations for both markets.

I agree in Sac. it's KCRA, but if your ever in Monterey/Santa Cruz sister station KSBW is a complete let down. (night and day) same owners.

It's funny how a station like KCRA maintains top status despite odd graphics. (Colors very rarely used in local news today). A good reminder that graphics don't make the newscast, the people, the reporting, and the overall quality are more important.

KCRA has always done things a bit differently. I would still rate them at the top of the news ladder in Sacto, though by less a margin than in years past.

1. KCRA
2. KXTV
3. KTXL (10pm news is excellent; morning news is a work in progress)
4. KUVS (Univision 19)
5. KMAX/KOVR (millions of dollars improved the look; the content of the KOVR casts needs help).

Univision 19 (KUVS, Modesto) has sometimes BEATEN KCRA newscasts in certain demographics.

Se Habla Espanól?

Oddly, KCRA does Spanish as text only on its closed captions, but doesn't promote that using a Spanish-language graphic during the promo for it.

And KOVR has live translation on its Second Audio Program (SAP) channel, but does the promotion for that by having the translator on camera tell people they can get Spanish on the SAP... in ENGLISH!

I'm waiting for KUVS to begin SAP and closed captions in English.

Ted.
