RARE & FORGOTTEN CHR/Top 40 SYNDICATED SHOWS.......

Hello, all. I'm trying to compile a list of rare and short lived nationally syndicated CHR radio shows. So, I was wondering if ANYONE has information (or at least remembers) some 1980's/90's CHR syndicated shows that I can't find any info on....AT ALL! I'm beginning to think I must've dreamt that these shows ever exsisted!

The first was a RICK DEES (obviously I know The Weekly Top 40 Countdown) but aside from that, there was
a daily radio show from about 1985-1989 (can't think of name) that ran for 1hr everyday (Monday-Friday). (At least where I lived in Augusta, GA it was on every weekday morning from 5AM to 6 on 104.3 WBBQ)
And another from RICK DEES....unless I'm crazy....I think he had an additional show on weekends...(aside from Weekly Top 40). In the 1990's It was for 3 hours and we got it in Augusta, GA on Friday Nights from 10pm-1am)

The next show was a 4hr Top 40 countdown hosted by DAVE SHOLAN (..sp) called...something like, National Music Countown...." (from about 1984-1990)

Another was an easy one (but can't find info on it)....JOEL DENVER's Future Hits (ran from 1984 until about 1993)

Or how about....JOHN LANDER's "Hit Music U.S.A."

And last but not least, from the 1980's...the sort of christian-based CHR show called, "POWERLINE".

I would love any info on these past CHR shows as well as any other's you may think of.

ANY THOUGHTS?

I remember a show called "The Cut" in the late 90's. It was an hour long and featured new music every week. Is that still around? It never aired in my neck of the woods but I caught it once while vacationing.

I forget the hosts name, it was a female though.

I believe The Cut replaced Joel Denvers Future Hits sometime in the mid 90s. I remember hearing the The Cut around '97 or '98, but I can't remember her name either.
Anyone else remember Scott Shannon's "Rockin' America Top 30 Countdown"? That lasted for a few years in the 80s.

No, you weren't halucinating about the daily Rick Dees show. It was called "Rick Dees: American Music Magazine". Sorry that I can't help you with the other one.

The show with Dave Sholan was called "Dave Sholan's Insider". It's a reworking of a earlier show called "Countdown USA", originally hosted by John Leader (which in itself was a replacement for another show called "Countdown America"). Dave replaced John as host in 1987.

"Powerline" was a one-hour show hosted by "Brother John" Rivers throughout the 1980s and into the early 90s, playing CHR/Hot AC oriented music mixed with scripture. Don't know when it ended as a CHR oriented show, but I think it is now a Christian AC or Hot AC show.

"John Lander's Hit Music USA" was a 4 hour "Morning Zoo-type" show that was on from 1985 to around 1991 (when John Lander left KKBQ/Houston for WEGX/Philly).

Wxman76:

"Rockin' America" was "reworked" in early 1991 and the show became "Scott Shannon's All Request Top 30 Countdown". This lasted untill 1992, when it ended.

Some more 80s-era syndicated CHR shows that I remember:

"Direct Hits" with "Broadway" Bill Lee (of Hot 103-Hot 97/New York fame): Was started in 1987. Originally, it had a "Top 3 Countdown" segment at the end of the show, but was dropped after the first year. Bill Lee remained host of the show untill 1990. His replacement was Al Bandereo (also a Hot 97 alumi) and the show was slightly reworked to include parody songs and bits. Dont know when it ended (have to guess around 1992).

"Party America": Was another countdown show. I've forgot what the hosts name was, but ran from the mid-80s to around 1991.

"Adam Cury's Top 30 Hitlist": Was another countdown show that was hosted by the ex-MTV DJ. Started in 1991, don't know when it ended. Sounded very similer to "Rockin' America".

"Hitline USA": It was a one hour artist interview show that was popular in the mid to late 80 and into the early 90s. I was syndicated out of Z100/NY and KPWR/LA (later changed to KIIS-FM in 1991).

"On The Radio" With (the late) "Big" Ron O'Brian: Started in 1983, was on as late as 1990 when I've last heard it.

Actually "On the Radio" lasted longer then that. I remember hearing it in the 1995-1996 timeframe

"The Cut" was hosted by Silvia Almereto (Hope that is the right spelling) We aired it on our top forty staton in the last year of its run which I belive was 2000 through 2001.

Another one from the late 80's that I loved was "American Dance Traxx" with Jeff Wyatt. I don't think it was on very many stations, but it was a great place to hear the latest club music and remixes every week.
