Rare Opening?

Published reports indicate Alex Van Pelt, former Bills third string quarterback and current color man for Buffalo Bills radio broadcasts, will join the coaching staff of the University at Buffalo Bulls as quarterbacks coach.

It's unlikely that Van Pelt could handle coaching at UB and the demands of the Bills broadcast schedule. So, who's in line for the coveted color man position? Would Jeff Burris, being an ex-player and former Bill be the man?

Seems the Bills prefer having "one of their own" in the booth to work with Murphy.
______________

Just my opinion... Burris was a downgrade from Paul Peck on the sideline, and the thought of putting him in the booth makes me cringe.

The guy who did color on the preseason TV broadcasts the last couple of years WAS available, but I guess he recently found another job... ;)

Gee, what's Jim Kelley up to these days? His broadcasting career seems to have faltered.

Yeah, he was a constant on Empire when they were covering hockey. Have not heard him on radio. However, i believe he is still a hockey writer for ESPN's NHL section, but that may have changed when they shipped the NHL to Outdoor living.

How about Jim Kelly?

An interesting idea, and one that makes far more sense than the Kelly-as-offensive-coordinator ramblings I've been reading elsewhere. He does have some experience, and there's a lot less travel involved than for the NBC job he held.

And putting him with Murph? The Saturday nights before road games would be LEGENDARY. ;-D
